To be fair though Briggs' reign was a drop in the bucket. He won it, got hurt prolonging his fight against Iggy and then finally went through with it and lost. Relatively harmless in my estimation. Compare that to how long Valuev has been practically sitting on his title belt, waving a finger in the air going "Ha ha ha ha ****ers it's all mine!" in our faces.
Nicolaj Valuev...The "title fight" against,Evander Holyfield, there where boxed in germany was an absolutly one of the worst titlefights i have ever seen!!! NOTHING HAPPEN,NOTHING!!!! AND when the ring announcer said that Valuev have won,I was speechless for a moment, But IMO it´s a terrible outcome!! Valuev or holyfield didn´t throw any punches in that fight.Well okay, maybe some jabs... But it´s a disgrace for heavyweight boxing, when they make fights like that! Hopefully Haye-Klitchko,or some new prospects will bring the action back in HW. IT´S NEEDED!!
Why "since Lewis"? Lewis was hardly a bad title holder.. I'd say Valuev. The guy is just very, very basic, and he lost to an old timer in Holdyfield.
As our good friend and ESPN writer Kieran Mulvaney said.."Each man took turns being more pathetic than the other guy."
I do Love Valuev, because he's a sideshow freak, but agree that his Reign at HW Champion has been an atrocity and a blight upon Boxing in general, but he did win the title eliminator from Beck, then defended Ruiz for the title and defended it against Barrett and McCline. After his loss to Chagaev he came back against Lyakhovich then fought Ruiz again as a mandatory and took a horrendous voluntary defense against Holyfield. Is it bad? Yes! But it's waaaay more then Briggs, Ruiz, Ibragimov and Rahman have managed to accomplish in that same time span COMBINED.
