    I doubt it.
I'd be surprised if the whole world accepted and recognized Hart as champion in that year.

    That's not true.
I've seen him in rankings lists from dates within that time frame.
I'd be very surprised if he wasn't ranked at the month he fought Carnera.
He'd beaten Dan Mccorkindale the South African shortly before, and Dan McCorkindale had been on one of the best runs of his career.

I suspect you're just going by the "year end" ring magazine ratings, that represent only 1/12 of the ring magazine ratings which were already monthly by 1933 or earlier.
And ignoring the National Boxing Association quarterly ratings too.
Uzcudun was ranked at various times in those years.

If you produce them ,I'll accept them. Beating McCorkindale doesn't impress me,he had won 3 of his last 5.

Paulino drew with the guy who knocked out Joe Louis. That’s a good fighter.

He drew [MD], with him in Spain and the Chairman of the Spanish Boxing Federation was the referee, he lost the rematch, in fact he didn't win any of those last 4 fights. That's a fighter heading towards the exit.

But it shows the calibre of Uzcudun. Getting a draw, even lasting the distance with Schmeling and losing is still better than taking the severe walloping Max gave Joe Louis just months later.

It shows paulino was still cutting the mustered when Carnera beat him.

If somebody drew with Douglas recently before he beat the crap out of Tyson It would make the guy who drew with Douglas a pretty tough hombre.

Uzcudun was tough, he wasn't a boxer and he wasn't a puncher. I don't think much of him and I would have to see the majority draw with Schmeling before I bought into it,I suspect it was "home cooking."

What have you got against poor old Paulino? He seemed a nice guy. On film he had an effective Archie Moore type style. Rough and strong. Could give anyone a fight.

I sometimes wonder if you were raised to have an aversion toward European heavyweight contenders? Most Euro challengers stand up as well as any other non champion. I’d put Uzcudun or Tommy Farr as 50-50 with Quarry, Bonavena or Chuvalo.

Schmeling certainly thought very highly of paulino and Carnera.

I've nothing against Paulino,I just don't think he was very good. Quarry would beat him clearly imo.
In my experience most Euro heavyweight challengers didn't stand up very long at all !

That photo looks like a psychology test...."which of the four men doesn't belong?"

FFS it's a disgrace to see Fury along with Sullivan, Ali and Lewis.

You left out Jean-Pierre Coopman, "The Lion of Flanders". Won the vacant EBU (European) Heavyweight title when he defeated Jose Manual Urtain.

For every European There’s a ton of horizontal American challengers flat on their back looking at the lamps in title fights too

    Pete radmacher
    Johnny paycheck
    Dave Zyglewicz
    Jack Roper
    Orlin Norris
    Bruce seldon
    Bob foster
    Jack Munro
    Tami mauriello
    Tommy Jackson
    Tom mcneely
    Roy Harris
    Cleveland Williams
    Tony Thompson
    Carl Williams
    Tommy Morrison
    Michael Grant
    Ray Austin
    Kirk Johnson
    Marvis Frazier
    Nathan Mann
    Harry Thomas
    Gus dorazio
    Charles Martin

And thats without mentioning even the actual american champions who could not hold a shot to the choppers like Moorer, Dokes, Norton and weaver who were up and down like a yo-yo getting got bounced around.
