What are some of the worst managed fighters out there. Chad Dawson has to be one of them. He switches from like 6 different trainers. Has no fanbase. Has been lineal champ on and off for a few years and still hasn't had a million dollare payday yet. Then this whole fiasco with Ward :nut Joan Guzman has to be another one. This guy was lined up to fight Manny Pacquiao after he beat Soto and then he just pissed it away. Then he fought just once a year from 2007 to 2009. He also fought as low as 122 pounds and now is at 140 from having a crap diet. Who else do you guys have?
David Tua. Beat several guys who were world champions yet was never a beltholder himself. Fernando Vargas. Put in with Quartey, Wright, Trinidad, and DLH all at a very young age. His career is probably why Golden Boy is being so careful and slow building up Canelo (or why other promotional outfits baby their young stars.) Juan Manuel Marquez. At least early in his career, and to some extent now. Turning down a Pacquiao rematch to go fight Chris John in his backyard was a bad move. Also, his current approach of taking low-level fights every so often whilst staying inactive for long periods of time in the hopes of landing another Pacquiao payday probably isn't the best course for his legacy or getting future bigger paydays. Mike Tyson. Blew a chance to be the GOAT by firing Rooney and surrounding himself with a bunch of parasites/Don King. Corrie Sanders. Should have linked up with a big-time American promoter earlier. He would have got more big fights and possible put together more of a resume (and accumulated more money) had he done this. Sergio Martinez. See Corrie Sanders. He's stayed loyal to DiBella for too long, and thus his opportunity to be a big star has probably passed him by. Had he signed with Top Rank or Golden Boy a few years ago, he'd be a much bigger name in the boxing world, and probably would have a better shot at a big payday now.
Dawson is not has bad, he just got $ 600 000 of the ward fight and had problem had 10 fights where made $ 100 000 plus
:good good stuff. Mike was being managed very very well early on, but that's part of the reason why he's on the list. Because he got rid of his great management and just steered off course
Tua got screwed over by his manager as well and I think they had a protracted court battle to resolve things.
I would add Ortiz to the list. While he made quite a lot of money out of his career, that it is not yet over, he was regarded as the future of boxing together with Khan just a couple of years ago. There were rumors that his chin was not that good and Golden boy matched him with relatively unknown bad ass from Argentina with 95 % KO ratio. They should of brought him a lot slowly IMAO.
Don King places guys in some kind of phantom zone where they don't fight for like 2 years. it's horrible.
Rigo is a big one. Quite sad actually. :-( People are saying Cloud but they have to realize he's really not that special. He's lucky to be even undefeated right now. And as long as he's got that fake belt and 0 he'll still be making big cheques, even if they do come once a year. IF he was with any other promoter he'd be long exposed by now and wouldn't be nearly making the amount of money he makes with Don now. Erislandy's careers is looking like its picking up finally.
Kessler post Calzaghe (Promotor problems and got his fight against Stieglitz cancelled) Andre Dirrell (Inactive post Abraham) Denis Lebedev (Has plenty of talent but keeps getting **** opponents) Jean Pascal (Inactive)
