Floyd is really good too and he can crack at 147 when he sits down on his punches. However, I agree with you that Hearns would probably stop Mayweather but there was nothing wrong with Hearns' stamina or chin. His beard wasn't great but it wasn't glass either.

What do people feel about Duran/Floyd at both weight classes?

I'm from Detroit and used to see the Kronk boys out in the clubs all the time. They all were pretty down to earth people for the most part.

You seem like a level headed sort of bloke. I'm interested to get your opinion on something else. I was born in England to English parents before moving out to LA. As a result of my heritage I loved the Eubank/Benn/Collins/Watson era. How do you rate that group?

    Hearns at WW.

Imagine if it was prime Hearns in place of Mosley during that fight with Floyd.....

Great fighters from the U.K. who would have been competitive in any middleweight era. Benn was my personal favorite.

All are stylistic nightmares for Floyd, The worst would be Hearns at WW, Duran would muscle and beat on him, Ray would bully him, but Hearns would detonate him.

Love to hear that, they never seem to get their due in the states. Benn was terrifying and beneath the ridiculous act Eubank was as true a warrior as they come.

have to put in perspective, by the time Floyd would had moved that far up all those fighters would be long gone from the WW division and srl gone from boxing

Floyd first fight at WW he was 28 years old. And he's been fighting at that weight and above for 10 years now - Tommy and SRL fought at Welter till they were both 24 years old - so I think it's a reasonable (but still imperfect) comparison. Pick your best Floyd vs the best of SRL/Hearns/Duran.

I think what he is saying is that Floyd's prime weight is around 135 while Hearns and Leonard fought at up to light heavyweight. They are simply much bigger men then Mayweather. Duran is a better comparison.

I understand but a reality of boxing is that these divisions share men of seriously disparate sizes. Hell, just look at JCC Jr. in his MW fights.

I don't think any unbiased man could dispute Floyd is the best defensively of the four men being discussed. So the issue at hand is whether his defense and accurate punching are enough to lead him to victory against bigger men like SRL and Hearns. I'd give 2007 Floyd a real shot vs welter SRL. Can't say the same vs Hearns.

But I agree Duran is certainly the most fair comparison.
