In their prime weight classes, who are the toughest matchups, style wise, for the following fighters: Ali Bowe M.Spinks Hagler Monzon SRL Mayweather Duran Whitaker Sanchez W. Gomez
Ali - Frazier Bowe - Louis M.Spinks - Tyson Hagler - Guys who aren't on film, maybe - Greb, Holman Williams, Mike Gibbons. Monzon - Ray Robinson SRL - Ray Robinson Mayweather - Roberto Duran Duran - Mickey Walker Whitaker - Roberto Duran Sanchez - Saddler W. Gomez- Juan Manuel Marquez
Ali - Frazier Bowe - Liston M.Spinks - not sure he has a nightmare style match at LHW, so I'm going Tyson Hagler - Gibbons Monzon - Gibbons SRL - Robinson Mayweather - Armstrong Duran - Whittaker Whitaker - Armstrong Sanchez - Arguello W. Gomez - Pacquiao
For Larry Holmes - Corrie Sanders, Chris Byrd, Michael Moorer because all are talented southpaws, don't recall Holmes fighting any.
Ali - Prime Ali? I don't think any heavyweight beats prime Ali, but I'd give prime Tyson the best shot at it. Bowe - Prime Foreman is the worst matchup for Bowe. M.Spinks - At 175, Spinks could POTENTIALLY beat any lightheavyweight in history. Hagler - Prime Jones would be the worst matchup for Hagler. Monzon - I think Robinson at his best would be all wrong for Monzon. Leonard - Really none at welter. Leonard is arguably the best welterweight that ever lived. I'm not even sure Robinson beats him. That's more/less a pick em fight. Mayweather - Depends. What weight? At 130, nobody beats Floyd. At 135, Duran and Whitaker were both bad matchups for him. At 140, Pryor was a bad matchup for him. At 147, easily Leonard. Leonard would have been a HORRIBLE matchup for Floyd. Duran - I think Whitaker's POSSIBLY a bad matchup for him. Duran vs Whitaker at 135 is close to a pick em. Other than Whitaker, no lightweight in history beats Duran. Whitaker - At welter? Probably Hearns. 135-140 Whitaker possibly beats any fighter in history. Sanchez - I kinda think Arguello. Sal got hit.... a lot. I don't think that's good for him against Arguello. W.Gomez - At 122 I don't see anybody beating him. At 126 there's a lot of guys who beat him.
Don't see how ANYONE can not mention Hearns as being THE worst style match-up for Floyd at 147. He'd give Floyd fits on top of fits!
Some very good picks, although I still don't get why you (and many others here) see Whitaker as such a bad matchup for Mayweather instead of vice versa. And I think that Hearns is a far worse matchup for Mayweather at 147 than Leonard. From what I've seen, I think a mover like RJJ or even Nunn could also give Monzon serious trouble.
Ali--Tyson Bowe--Ali (see Biggs, Tubbs) M.Spinks--Charles Hagler--Jones Monzon--Jones SRL--maybe Robinson, Norris or Mayweather. Hearns too. Mayweather--Hearns Duran--@135 Mayweather, Mosley Whitaker--Mayweather Sanchez--Lomachenko W. Gomez--haven't watched much of him
Wait, how is a Mayweather a bad matchup for Pea? I see Pea winning that fight. Regardless of how you see the fight going, I'd name other fighters that are worse for Pea than Money May
