Worst performance in a stoppage win

Tucker-Douglas I can kinda see, as it was a lot more competitive than legend has it. From some reports you get the impression that Douglas shut out Tucker for 9 rounds and then just quit, whereas in reality Tucker was coming on strong and landed some big shots to force the stoppage. Regardless, it wasn't particularly impressive from Tucker, and it was a surprise to many how well he stood upto Tyson.


Lewis-Bruno fits the bill perfectly IMO. Lewis' fights leading upto the Bruno fight, and his career afterward indicated that he was a level or two above Bruno. He was the clear favourite going into the fight, and most expected him to be much too skilled and fast for Bruno. In the fight itself, Lewis couldn't get going - he later admitted himself that he didn't warm up properly - and was lethargic for the first few rounds. Despite the expected disparity in speed, Bruno outjabbed Lewis and took control of the centre of the ring. Lewis got back into the fight, but he was backed in the corner and under pressure when he landed a huge left hook that led to the finish.

When Lewis himself says "some nights you're on, some nights you're off" it's a pretty good indication that he didn't consider it one of his best performances, and he got a roasting in the press on both sides of the pond afterwards. I remember quite a few of the British press who previously had supported Lewis,
moving towards favouring Bowe if they ever met.

 

Lewis looked lethargic and was being outboxed round after round.

I think Bruno surprised him by boxing in a controlled aggression, disciplined kinda fashion, which he'd never really shown before that - or ever did again.

Jackson vs Graham gets my vote, Jackson barely won a second of that fight before he knocked Graham into next week.

 

Roy looked worse against Harding than Lucas, IMO.

God-awful fight, then Harding retires in his corner due to injury.

It's one of the fights that came to mind for me. I think Jackson's eye trouble in the fight was the main reason, but his performance was pretty crap up until he nailed Graham.

I think Ali v Lyle is an excellent pick as well.

 

Oh God, I forgot about this one. :-( How many punches did Briggs throw? About 18? (About 15 in the last round.)

 

You're probably right, but Kelley was a good fighter regardless and Hamed forgot about that.
