i've never seen the Ottke Reid fight. There are 3 bad performances that quickly come to mind here. I've probably seen worse but these are the 3 that came to mind right away.

    1. Dave Parris in Ricky Hatton vs Kostya Tszyu

I still believe that Kostya Tszyu would have won handily on neutral ground. I will however recognize that my point of view doesn't matter, but the fact is that alot of Boxers after that performance have commented that they would gladly fight Hatton as long as its not in England. (PBF & Malignaggi) When other pro boxers start saying that then you know its an issue.

    2. Eddie Cotton in Paulie Malignaggi vs Lovemore N'dou

Of all the fights i've ever seen this is the one where the ref was the most involved. As soon at the fighters got within close range he would split them up. N'dou was basically unable to do anything.

    3. Joe Cortez in Floyd Mayweather vs Ricky Hatton.

Splitting them up too quickly, not allowing Hatton to get his shots off on the inside, and letting Floyd get away with blatant elbowing to the face. Even the point that was taken was weak and the stoppage were weak imo. I actually bet alot of money on Floyd in that fight, knowing that he would win, but still not a good ref performance at all.

Richard Steele took two points from JCC against Frankie Randall for borderline body shots that costed him a split decision.

Octavio Meyran gave a 13 seconds count to Buster Douglas to come back up at the end of the eight.

Referee Genaro Rodriguez ruled a Torres' knockdown in round 6 as a slip and delayed a count after Torres had been dropped in round 7. After stopping the fight and knowing that Kendall Holt was hit by beer cans in Barranquilla, Colombia, he said "Obviously, if I stopped the round because of the slippery floor, then he (Holt) has got an opportunity to recover. OK? So, I have to make a decision. In the neutral corner, when I stopped the fight, he (Holt) was unresponsive. He was taking punches, and (when) the life of a man is in jeopardy, it's my duty to safeguard that."

Of course the winner has to be Terry O'Conner when he suddenly walked between Manfredo and Calzaghe and waved off the title fight.

Guadalupe Garcia, of Lewis-McCall I 'fame', in Braithwaite vs Cantatore in Oct 2002.

Totally missed a knockdown in the 5th, continually warned Braithwaite about phantom low blows, allowed Cantatore not only to turn his back to Braithwaite but would hold Braithwaite back from pursuing or punching at him while it happened, refused to allow any close-quarters fighting, let Cantatore get away with rabbit punches and low blows without comment, docked Braithwaite a point for 'excessive holding' and just generally leaped in to protect Cantatore whenever he looked at him.

Just a lousy job. I've only seen it the once, at the time, but I sure remembered how bad it was. Only good news was Braithwaite ultimately said 'screw this' and blasted Cantatore cold with a right in the 10th.

And don't get me started on Eddie Cotton's performances in Tyson-Lewis and Bowe-Golota II...
