Pacquiao KO'ing JMM in III and IV Klitschko destroying Fury Williams beating Sergio in II, Sergio beating Cotto Dawson in all of his losses Donaire over Rigondeaux and Walters Abraham over Froch Matthysse over Garcia ...also every fight where a massive huge no brainer favorite loses, example: Wonjongkam vs. Sonny Boy like everyone else, but these seem notable for not seeing it.
Hatton to beat Pac has to be my worst. Looking back there was basically nothing to suggest that but I got carried away.
I bet hard earned money that Bruno would defeat Tyson in their rematch. It wasn't so much that I'd ever been high on big Frank. But to me, Tyson looked really bad in his fights after prison. And I was certain that this was the fight he was getting exposed in. Man, **** Frank Bruno.
Oh jeez. Tough to pick the worst out of all the times I've predicted wrong. Off the top of my head, I'd say Watson vs MacCallum remains my worst pick.
I also had Maravilla by KO, but I don't count that as one of my worst predicitions. I (and many others) just fell for the "my knees are fully healed, nothing to worry about" bullshirt Sergio pulled just to secure his final big payday. 20/20 hindsight facepalm sure, but not a bad prediction without the relevant info.
I was young, maybe 17 or so, but I was adamant that whichever way Hatton-Mayweather ended, it wouldn't be a Hatton KO. I even wrote a MySpace blog to that effect... I also was pretty sure Mayweather wouldn't KO McGregor though... And as so many others did, I predicted Fury stood no chance against Wlad. I also have vague memories of thinking Bute and Macrinelli would dominate for years.
Mine that I can remember (oddly enough) is also a Mosley fight, but it was Mosley vs Forrest 1, I thought for sure Mosley would prove that what happened when the two were amateurs would never happen as professionals and full grown men. I was very wrong.
Haye v Bellew 1 Haye v Bellew 2 I was wrong, and I was shocked with every minute of the fights. Here's a guy that walks through heavyweights, and has dynamite in fists and can take a punch... I'm still confused, but boxing is funny like that.
SSM over Canelo at the time wasn't a bad call at all. In 2012 Sugar had only looked truly dreadful once (against Mora...which, I mean...it was Mora). The gift over Cano, embarrassing loss to Mundine, etc - all lay in the future. He was only 2 years (almost exactly) removed from his decent showing against FMJ, and the memory of the dominant Margarito pasting still lingered.
Maccaranelli was going to beat Haye. Deep down I knew he wouldn't but my dislike for Haye overruled rational thinking.
