He was fighting in the same fashion before this dubious injury as he was afterwards, so it doesn't cut it as an excuse IMO. It was clearly his strategy to treat Valuev as if he was a 7ft combination of Ray Robinson and Mike Tyson, and steadfastly refuse to engage him, when in reality Valuev was little more than a lumbering punchbag who was begging to be dominated and/or stopped.
Most fights involving Vincenzo Nardiello were a nightmare. He really was the biggest waste of semen to ever wear a pair of boxing gloves.
The worst title fight I ever saw was a Lupe Pintor Bantamweight defense against somebody named Jose Uziga. Pintor chased and chased and this Uziga guy was a track star with enough determination and skill to last 15 full, dreary rounds. I remember the only good part of the whole fight was the final tally of the cards. I had never heard a card scored so strongly as 150-126....
worst title fight ive ever watched - chris byrd vs davaryll williamson....they were goodfriends so pretty much they didn't want to hurt each other...very few punches were thrown...im talking about single digits almost....it was so ****ing bad that the ref had to go to both corners and tell them to fight....what was frustrating is that williamson blew his only shot at the heavyweight title with that bull****
as said haye vs valuev was pretty bad but not as bad as wlad klit vs chagaev that was a real snoozy sparring session
What we are seeing is that some legengs have found their way onto this list of shame. Joe Louis vs Tommy Farr would have got votes, if this forum had existed at the time.
leuvano i kinda like. it was billy dib pretending to be a boxer which was worse. plus leuvano didnt force him. dib would of fallen apart had he been more aggressive. similar to dirrell-froch in a way.
well still being friends doesnt mean you cant have good fights. brown vs mo blo was a fight between two incredibly close family friends.used to have bbq invite each others family for dinner. and they created a war. malinga-reid i think had some sparring together and where pretty close. yet produced a decent enough (though a bit workless ) bout
