When the guy you're fighting has tapped you handily in the past it makes not going to the mat again a HUGE priority. If Overeem had to concentrate on Werdum's feather fists or potentially being underneath a BJJ champion, I'd say he made the right choice. I am, however, disappointed that his wrestling is still so pathetic that he was unable to get his strikes off and still maintain a comfortable base.
For the record, Werdum was fighting like a straight up homosexual that liked to have a man on top of him with no shirt on. The man was exploiting the rules by laying down like a *****, knowning the other man can't kick him in this "real" fight.
Mandible has been dropping bombs this whole thread. He's pretty much spot on 100% accurate in everything he's said. Why is it the people that always say/make the most sense are the people that are always attacked and hated on?
Although it looks funny cause of his build, I thought Sherk's hands against Diaz were pretty effective.
i still have no idea why people try to look at the punching in mma the same way as in boxing....it's not the same...handwraps...different, gloves...different, feet...different (you HAVE to be more open in MMA, if you try to close your stance like a mayweather, your ass would be on the mat in .02 seconds with 0 chance to defend a TD), combos...different (you cannot often piece together some 5 punch combo for fear of getting your ass wrapped up and spiked into the mat) u know why u hardly see duck unders in mma....because in mma you would be throwing your face into a knee which in boxing is not an issue the **** just is not the same
I think Shields has the worst stand up,looks so stiff and robotic,i sometimes even think if i fought him in a boxing match i would spark him out..
