it wasn't a tiny cut.... but by far not a catastrophic one either :-(

If you are gonna let a guy fight for the Heavyweight title ("a heavyweight title") , sell 20,000 tickets (no idea of actual attendance) , broadcast it and sell it 130 countries, pay the fighters millions of dollars and should a cut happen early in the fight, it might be a good idea before STOPPING a fight like this to

    A) at least ask the fighter if he can see
    B) at least ask the fighter if he wants to continue
    C) at least allow the ****ing corner man 1 round to stop it
    D) at least allow the fighter a round or 2 to end the fight themselves or they will be forced to stop it

they pulled the plug on this like it was the first sight of blood they have ever seen, it was pretty pathetic. Part of boxing to have cuts, thus cut men in the corner. Makes boxing look bad, robs the champion and challenger of a legit win or loss.

The match up sucked (not the issue)
Vitali woulda won anyway (not the issue)

They build these fights up for so long, so many press conferences, pictures, face offs , interviews ect ect and make it a really big event and stop the fight like it was a 10 round non title fight on espn2 friday night fights. baffling :huh:huh

There was a lot of blood but the cut wasn't severe enough to stop the fight. They should have given the cutman a chance to close it and they should have given Vitali 2 more rounds to knock Charr the **** out. Everybody got robbed in this fight.

Had Charr made it to the 11th, I would be a rich man.

It was merely a flesh wound and Manny should have been allowed to continue. Manny's tactic of conserving energy and carrying Vitali for the first few rounds really cost him here.

It did not seem that bad and may have been a bad call but from what I remember about the cut it was in an extremely bad location. I'm not a physician but the man who suggested that the contest be stopped was a physician. I'm speculating that the location of the cut may have caused some serious damage to the eyelid. Like the cut was dead center of the top of the eyelid and had it increased little by little we could have seen Charr's eyelid dangling by a shred of skin.

On to a different aspect of the fight, I don't think Klitschko should have been given credit for scoring a knockdown vs Charr. To me it seemed like Charr went down from an illegal punch to the back of the head.

Regardless of the cut eyelid and the rabbit punch, I think the outcome would have ultimately been a Klitschko stoppage win. Klitschko was landing too many jabs and body punches too early. Charr may have won had Klitschko slipped on a banana peel but that was pretty much the only way he would win.

Klitschko did seem deteriorated to the point that David Haye can probably beat him at this point.

I think the fight following Klitschko-Charr was actually a much worse stoppage. One guy took a hard punch he staggered back to the ropes and bowed forward while the eventually winner threw a flurry of wild punches that did little more than mess up the loser's hair but the ref jumped in and waved the fight over anyway. Too bad Smoger could not have referred all three fights, although in Klitschko's win it was really a doctor stoppage.

Had the boxing match been stopped like that in the Middle East, a revolution of anger would begin and the referee would be killed.

The worst stoppage in a heavyweight title fight was "Dokes-Weaver" of '82........ Joey Curtis should've been shot before leaving the arena that night....

no, the worst was Cooper-Clay. Cooper had Clay ready to go but after serious of smelling salts and dirty tactics the fight was stopped a round later on "cuts".

No, the stoppage was OK. It did good to Charr who would have suffered much more if the referee had given a go. It was one sided affair all along. Charr should praise the physician who saved his career. Fighters who go only few rounds with Klitschkos can bounce back. Those who go the distance was doomed.
