Whether Manfredo would've been stopped or not later is irrelevant, as I said. The decision that was made was wrong. Manfredo was perfectly fit to continue. I'm glad the ref stopped it as it was a horrible mismatch of Pudwillesque proportions, but that doesn't make it the correct decision at the time.
I think there is a distinct difference between arguing with the decision, or just having a different stance on it. My stance is that Meldrick Taylor could have seen the 2 seconds out without sustaining further damage and therefore should have been given the chance to do so. However, I have not condemned or criticized, or even "argued", with Steele's decision, or anybody who thought he made the right decision. I have only criticised those who have tried to say Taylor could have sustained life threatening injuries as a result of 2 seconds, or even less.
I see you don't understand the English language. Saying that Taylor "should" have been allowed to continue is signifying that you think what did transpire was wrong. Keep justifying if you wish, but any native English speaker can read the two quotations on the previous page and see the clear contradiction even if you cannot.
I don't like it when refs count to 10 when the guy is clearly gone and won't get up. Why not stop it when you see that the guy is in another dimension? Instead, they count to ten and stop it, instead of getting the doctor in there ASAP. [YT]woWSl5PBVAs&fmt=18[/YT] [YT]5wNrB_V3PFc&fmt=18[/YT]
As I've tried to tell Dinamita, who now finds himself with a sworn agenda against me, I can understand why Richard Steele stopped the fight. From his point of view, his number one priority is the safety of Meldrick Taylor - and he was clearly hurt by that right hand. Likewise, I can understand how fans might agree with the decision. They may also see it from Steele's point of view, who did not have any idea that there was only 2 seconds left in the round. But to justify the decision by saying that Taylor could have sustained further life threatening injuries as a result of two seconds...is, as I originally pointed out, complete bull****.
Could be, but I'd rather hear him say something like this instead of "it ain't my job to know...". Like I said, maybe I'm a little hard on Steele because I don't like his attitude, and I guess it doesn't help that I know what could have been.
I understand the English language perfectly. I may have been guilty of not conducting myself in the correct manner, but I never argued with anybody who purely believed that Steele was right in his decision. You know what issue I had, I've explained it enough times, but if you want to keep going on about your anal explanations, not a lot I can do. I've told you outright what I meant to get across, and you should have understood that.
Calzaghe v Manfredo was terrible. Who gives a **** if Joe would have won anyhow, it was complete bull****. Taylor v Chavez was a good stoppage except for when it too place. It's not Steele's job to keep time, it's the timekeepers.
I totally agree. There was a fight about a month or so ago (I forget who) and it was like "Just take his ****ing mouthpiece out and stop the fight". The ref could have counted to 100 and the guy wouldn't have beat the count but the ref counted to 10....atsch
I'm bored of this. You contradicted yourself but have since overexplained it. Next. (I did actually like your p4p top 10 list btw)
:rofl The funniest 10 count I have ever seen is when Ottke knocked Mundine. Check it out. [YT]r97Qq8s119s[/YT]
I despise referees who do that, all they are doing is delaying medical assistance vital seconds - which could be crucial. If I was a medic I'd be in the ring and booting the stupid ******* out the way.
