Stiverne vs Demetrice King was one of the worst stoppages I have ever seen

Stiverne dropped King early yet no one stopped fight

All of sudden, after King attacked Stiverne (but hadn't him seriously hurt at all), the referee suddenly stopped it.

If the same referee was in Stiverne - Rossy fight, Rossy would've been awarded KO 1 win, as he had more success than King vs Bermane.

    Chisora - Scott.
Scott counted out despite standing up. insane

Stiverne-King was partially Stiverne's fault because he stopped throwing punches. Wasnt hurt tho.

    RJJ Griffin I.

One of the worst stoppages ever! Jones punched Griffin after Griffin intentionally took a knee.

First off, how often does a fighter intentionally take a knee? When was the last time you saw a fighter intentionally take a knee? Taking it one step further, when was the last time you say a fighter intentionally take a knee while in a close competitive fight? It was something truly unexpected and Roy was really in a close fight so his adrenaline going into for big punches, that RJJ “tunnel vision” was required for him to win that fight. So adding up all these factors, I have concluded that it was one of the worst stoppages ever.

A better referee decision would have been to deduct Roy 1 point and give Griffin 5 minutes to recover, then continue the fight. The reason why this did not happen was because Griffin acted like he was KO’d, and to many people that looked like he was acting to find a way out of the fight. (He’d already taken an intentional knee, so in a way there was already evidence of that) So Griffin acting like he was badly hurt from that punch, basically made the ref stop the bout thinking that Griffin was unable to continue and the bout had to be stopped. All this resulted in RJJ being disqualified which a point deduction seemed more appropriate.

Another reason why I bring this up is because in recent fights I’ve seen times when fights go down and his opponent hits him (worse than RJJ did vs Griffin) and the referee doesn’t call anything and nobody even mentions it. While RJJ definitely committed a foul, a point deduction or a warning seemed more appropriate. Given that, you know, we don’t see intentional knees taken that often, that it was late.. but it wasn’t like Roy went out of his way to move into position to throw the extra punch. Griffin was being elusive for many many rounds and Roy was in “seek-and-destroy” mode. That was Roy’s animal instinct taking over but I don’t think it was worthy of a stoppage all things considered.

I think you really have to decide if you think Griffin was seriously hurt that he sustained while taking a knee. I know when you think “stoppage” you don’t think of DQs or this fight in particular. But it really is one of the worst stoppages when you think about the magnitude of what it meant. At the time RJJ was unbeatable and unstoppable. And this was one of his toughest tests. We never got to see how this fight would have played out if it would have continued, so in that sense I think it’s one of the worst stoppages because we were robbed of what was a great fight that could have gone on for more rounds.

Also I think RJJ’s destruction of Griffin in the rematch also makes the stoppage in the 1st fight one of the worst stoppages ever because Griffin wasn’t the same fighter that he was in the first fight. (Griffin said himself he was not prepared for the rematch) The stoppage resulting in the DQ made Roy really mad which resulted in Griffin getting KTFO in the rematch. Had the first fight had a fitting conclusion, Roy might have stayed undefeated, or Griffin could have won legitimately, or it could have been a draw or something. But the fact that RJJ”s first “loss” was a DQ just felt wrong, even if you agreed that it was a foul. Therefore, it was one of the worst stoppages ever!
