McCloskey isn't an especially good boxer at world level, certainly any comparison to Mayweather is pointless. He never looked like timing this magical counterpunch. The problem was, he focused so heavily on evasion that you can't think about counterpunching when the only thing in your mind is to avoid what is coming your way. What point was he going to do it...8...9...10? Round 6 went the same way as all the rest. There was no sign, thats the key thing, you'd be expecting by round 6 to see signs of success if you were hoping for late joy but there wasn't any indication of any adjustments. Also, even if he landed its not a guarantee. Maidana landed after having Khan under far closer scrutiny. Even if Paul began to time a few I have big doubts he'd have achieved much. He's a fairly average puncher. But thats just my opinion. Even if he'd have landed Khan could have run all night, McCloskey's footwork is really poor and he'd never have been able to finish. Lets face it, his chances were 1 in 150 last night when the stoppage occured, he lost 6 rounds decisively without doing anything in them to increase his chances. Thats no excuse for the ref/doctors decision though, the fans and the fighters deserved better.
I made £6000 profit from them The communication was via email this is what they said in one of the emails after i had to complain This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
I'm not saying he's better than Mayweather, I'm saying better technique pays down the stretch when fighters tire. He wasn't as bad as some make out last night, he did buzz Khan a couple of times if I remember rightly. I'd pick Khan to win anyway and McClosky was a bit overwhelmed by the speed imo because he needed to counter Khan's misses or lead with his jab. But having said all that yes McClosky had an outside chance of a late stoppage, he'd already buzzed Khan at least once and he would have landed more down the stretch. No he isn't Maidana, he has much better technique, and no I'm not Irish, and didn't follow McClosky before this fight for the record but I do like his boxing style
I'm not sure that he has pots full of cash really. I had the "pleasure" of going to Fort Lauderdale last May to watch him fight in that Hiati relief fight . Turgid fight. No atmosphere and no fans.
I usually give khan the benefit of the doubt but i hated his performance last night. Yeah he did enough to win but it was a far from world class showing. And then going on in the interview about being world class was just annoying. (and im not irish or a mclosky fan btw).
Yeah the fight was stopped unfairly. If anyone deserves to whine, etc. While the morons from Khan's team hollered and hooted throughout. I was there man, they ruined my tape. ****ing idiots.
I thought it was more actually Either way, he's not had a bad run in that division to have not been forced to face the likes of Cotto, Mosley or even B-level guys like Clottey and Judah.
Maybe I'm ignorant but if McCloskey thought Khan was dead at the weight and certain to tire in the last few rounds wouldn't he have thrown the odd body shot? He landed 44 punches in the entire fight mostly amateur type lunges that didn't look like wobbling Khan's china chin. I honestly don't know who's more deluded about being hard done by: McCloskey fans or Arsene Wenger. :huh
