I have a slightly demented taste for foulfests, so I found that fight fairly enjoyable. Gainer's track meet against Marquez 3 years later, now that was one of the worst fights imaginable.
Greg Page - Tony Tubbs. Worst fight ever. Those guys were too fat to even look aggressive, let alone actually hit each other. If someone figures out a way to grant us eternal youth and vitality, I will still be pissed that I spent time watching that one.
Yes ,what a stinker, his other one against ,was it James Waring? was a stinker too,Nelson ,at that time in his career should have been called Johnny Stilton, not Johnny Nelson.
Nelso Vs De Leon already mentioned from the off, i will say........ Funso Banjo Vs Hughroy Currie.....(British heavy title fight...Dont ask...)
dont be to hard on him. There are 2 reasons it was hard to watch for him. 1 No Ali. 2 It was in black and white. If Ali was in the fight, he can put on his color tint glasses and forget it was in black and white. I enjoy Baer Bradock. Pretty good fight.
Nelson v De Leon always comes up when crap fights are mentioned, but I'm not sure too many people actually saw it. If they had, then all those other rubbish fights that have been mentioned would fade into insignificance. I've seen a few bad fights in my time, but this one is truly in a class of it's own. In fact it might not even qualify as a "fight" as such, if we were to be pedantic.
Wasn't a world title fight, but Skelton-Sprott 2 was pretty bad as fights go. Oh and Holy vs Ruiz 3 was probably the worst HW title fight this century.
If we're talking about title fights that were boring, I'd say Marlon Starling vs Michael Nunn ( 1990 ), was a pretty good snooze fest.
I can't believe Ali-Young isn't getting due credit here. It was a ****ing disgraceful fight.Considering it was a fight for the (then) most prestigious title in world sport and for a display like that to be delivered was an indictment on both fighters that night. There was no action,no one got hurt, and although you could make a case for a Young victory, the manner in which he fought justified him not getting the verdict. Ali's display was no great shakes either but he deserved his victory for previous services rendered to boxing imo.
