margo before pacman. the guy was severely overtrained, his energy, power and pressure just werent evident. kinda like hatton prior to pacman. and mosley prior to floyd. overtraining at this stage in a career is ridiculous, but it happens.
Ali's training camp for the Thrilla in Manilla was pretty bad. Didn't change the result, but, according to wikipedia, ''it was believed by Ali and his trainers that Joe Frazier was washed up after his devastating loss to George Foreman, and the relative ease with which Ali had defeated Frazier in their rematch after that fight seemed to bear this out. The general consensus was that Ali was doing Frazier a favor, giving Joe one last big payday before sending him off into retirement, and as a result Ali did relatively little training, instead concentrating on the torrid affair he was having with Veronica Porche, and amusing the vast entourage that had come to be nicknamed "The Ali Circus". Later, when Ali's then wife Belinda Ali found out that not only was Ali carrying on this affair but was introducing Veronica as his wife, she stormed into the Philippines, causing yet another distraction.''
Can't believe people haven't mentioned Cotto before Pac. A damn nutritionist with only 1 pro fight as a head trainer after a turbulent separation with the long-time uncle trainer, all the while training to make a nuisance catchweight, in preparation for the biggest fight of his career against the best fighter in the world. Maybe worst corner of the decade.
Oliver McCall before Lewis II. He had a coke addiction and didnt want to fight at all. Don King essentially forced him into the fight. He barely sparred and only minimally trained for the fight
According to 24/7, Pacquiao's camps before Cotto and Margarito were full of distractions, as was his camp before Barrera 2. Of course, it most probably was only a ploy to market the fights as more competitive than it was in reality.
Lewis for first fight with Rahman. Barely trained through filming Oceans Eleven and then turned up 5000ft above sea level only 6 days before the fight
W. Gomez training camp before Sal Sanchez. According to my dad, it was well known in PR that he was drinking, partying and going out with tons of women weeks and days before the fight.
