Maybe not the worst and maybe a bit unfair but a couple I remember where I thought "why the hell did you bother"...

    Pat Barrett vs Manning Galloway

I know there were extenuating circumstances but Barrett just plodded around hardly throwing a punch while Galloway had him on a string.

    Dan Sherry vs Chris Eubank

Staggeringly boring fight which Chris ended with a headbutt...Sherry was so **** that nobody could be bothered to disqualify Chris...

Michael Dokes/Jesse Ferguson vs Riddick Bowe

What a waste of Bowe's talent against these fools, it is such a shame when you see a potentially great fighter get swamped in politics and fighting bums. He should have just fought Lewis, even if he lost it would have been a better end to his career than being punched in the balls by a Polish thug or joining the marines for a week before being kicked out...

So what are your most embarrassing title challenges?

    Clearly

    Muhammad Ali versus Larry Holmes.

Ali wasn't even capable of putting a 'full sentence' together without mumbling.

Who the hell approved of that bout.

I should maybe have put "most inept title challenges" as the heading as I wanted some amusing ones! Ali vs Holmes is just painfully tragic.

It did as much damage to Holmes as Ali (career wise) in a way as Holmes became the guy who beat up on Ali rather than a great champion in his own right... saying that fighting the likes of Scott LeDoux and Randall Cobb probably didn't help endear him to the public...

Another poor challenge is Meldrick Taylor against Terry Norris, he was just shot after Chavez and never returned to form. If Glenwood Brown could knock him down then how the hell was he going to beat Norris?

Some that are far worse than have been mentioned:

Livio Nolasco was 7-7-1 when challenging for a 122lbs 'world title'.

Lou Gent was a fun fighter, but never should of been matched up with Nigel Benn.

Jack Murray fighting Heavyweight Champion of the World Jack Johnson...

    Mike Baker

When he fought Maurice Hope for the WBC Light-Middleweight Championship.

Mike got rated by the WBC, only because his manager was good friends with Jose Suliaman.
