Would 36 year old Tszyu have beat Hatton if Cortez have reffed the fight?

I cant imagine why Tszyu wouldnt. He went into a hositle crowd, got brutally low blowed, elbowed, hugged like he was fighting Richard Simmons,KD Hatton yet that got swiped away. All that and he was still close on the scorecards. Joe Cortez doesnt allow Hatton to do what he does which is illegal and Hattons dumbass fans crying that Cortez robbed him when he fought Fraud need to take note. Excessive clinching is illegal and you can be DQed for it sure no ref ever does it but if your a no non sense referee you wont allow this bull**** to go on.

the better question would've been "would Tszyu had done much better had he fought more than 3 rounds in 18 months?"

damn right. Hatton got away with it all in that fight, and then has the nerve to whine like a ***** for the last 4 months after Cortez had the nerve to enforce boxing rules.

    Wicky Fatton.

i wonder if Fatton reads boxing forums? If he does he will see that not everyone thinks he's the most popular human being on the earth and one of he most exciting fighters of all time, as he seems to think. He's totally deluded.
Hatton sucks, and his figh.....sorry hugfests suck ass.

I don't think anyone could have beaten Hatton that night, the performance to beat Tszyu was something very special.

There was the low blow, but both of them were at it throughout the fight, and there was no protest from Tszyu, he was beaten by the better fighter on the night, and took it like a man - something all other fighters could learn a great deal from.

In terms of Cortez, I think Roger Mayweather planted an idea in his mind during the change rooms, and he seemed more concerned about Hatton than actually allowing the fight to take it's course. That said, Hatton (and most other fighters) have found a way to win by bending the rules somewhat, and credit to Floyd and his team for being able to do so.

I have seen Mayweather on a handful of occasions and that was by far his best performance, certainly better than the Gatti one, and against a much tougher, live, prime opponent in Hatton - who performed below his best (or wasn't allowed to by his opponent).

    Agreed. End of story.

I also do not think that Cortez reduced Hatton's chances against Mayweather. They were always zero and even some of the UK judges would have found it hard to bend the rules to give Hatton any chance of winning the fight.

Yes, because two against one is not a fair fight.

I wouldn't have said the chances were zero!

If I were scoring Hatton like Sven Ottke, after 8 rounds I could have had it even, whilst Mayweather could have been DQ'd - the check hook was to the head.

I thought his first name was Kostya, not 36 year old??

Hatton would have beat Tszyu with anybody as ref that night, he was fantastic.

Hatton is very, very hard to beat...it took the P4P#1, lots of illegal tactics and Cortez to beat him.

It was the P4P No. 1, and a few (not a lot) of illegal tactics, and a helpful Cortez (rather than on his side) to win.
