Would a 2002 Wlad vs. 2002 Lennox lewis fight come down to who landed the 1st bomb?

If that's the case (and I don't necessarily think so), then Lennox wins. Wlad takes 4-5 rounds to get comfortable; Lewis was willing to take risks early when opportunities presented themselves.

A lot of people call him "Waldo", which I suspect is a play on "Where's Waldo", those children's books where you're searching for the guy in the picture. Just my guess though.

Yeah... because Wlad and Michael Grant are so much alike. That makes as much sense as me saying that Wlad takes out Lewis brutally, and early.... a la Derrick Jefferson. I mean, since he was tall and all.

Lewis beats Wlad by being hyper agressive and swarming him. Think of Michael Grant II. If he doesn't do this then he will have a long night. If Wlad is not swarmed then he is very hard to beat as he is a very good fighter, defensively and offensively.

I dont think either fighter's chin is that terrible. You simply dont have 50 odd fights including championship bouts at heavyweight without being caught with huge punches. Peter hit Wlad on the button a couple of times without any kind of effect.

If Wlad learns to fight really well under pressure then he will be an all-time great, as he has the other tools. He has great potential and is yet to have his career-defining fight which will bolster his self-belief.

Wind it the **** in!!...its not my problem you have comprehension issues...read it again and you will find that I did not intimate that Waldomar is/was like Michael Grant per se, rather that the nature of the finish, and net result of the fight would be the same. :finger5

Wlad much better than Grant IMO it may well have come down to who gassed first. Lewis looked exhausted against Vitali(who had only 2weeks to prepare) and we also know what happened to Wlad when he used to expend a lot of energy=Brewster. I would give Wlad a chance of winning.

This is a great hypothetical fight, but the Wlad of 2002 was light years away from the fighter that he has become. Before the Sanders destruction, everyone wanted this fight to happen.

Judging by the way lennox came out against Vitali, I'm sure he would have been prepared to take the fight right to Wladimir. I don't know how that would have played out, because Lennox is not the effective aggressor that Sanders is.

Also, Wladimir, at that time, was an offensive juggernaut. This guy would overwhelm his opponents with punch volume and handspeed.

But, the experience would have been the determining factor of this fight. With Manny Stewards tutelage, I feel that Lennox would have been able to survive any attack that Wladimir might have initiated.

In turn, I don't think that Wlad would have been prepared for such a seasoned and experienced Champ.

    Lewis KO in 5.
