Would a 88 Tyson have stopped the Foreman of the Young fight?

An 1988 Tyson defeats anyone in History

 

Let's get this straight, so the Tyson that laboured to finish the likes of Thomas and Biggs, the same fighter that couldn't hurt James Smith or Tony Tucker wipes the floor with an ATG who had a better chin and more heart than any of the above. A fighter that carried Atomic Bombs in his gloves who also feasted on fighters with a similar style and similar dimensions to Tyson?

I'll have some of what you lot are smoking please......

 

He's certainly even money or better against anyone in history. I don't think you can favor anyone over 1988 Tyson.

 

Young won because when he was in the right mood he was an excellent defensive boxer and very awkward and hard to hit he basically kept moving and hitting on the retreat until foreman was exhausted.Tyson will attack Forman head on .nobody beats Forman this way .Forman early in brutal fashion.

 

George's mental state was the issue here.. He wasn't in a good place.. if you are unsure of yourself to any degree going into a fight with a young Mike Tyson, you've got problems.

 

I love this mythical unbeatable Tyson of 1988, I mean he defeated pensioner Larry Holmes coming off a break, the lard arse Tony Tubbs who didn't want to know after getting caught with a shot and the ATG HW Michael Spinks who was like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

88 Tyson is unbeatable but 2 months later in Feb 87 Tyson morphs into being very beatable by the glass chinned robot Frank Bruno, hahahahahahaha.

 

Regardless of the Tyson hysteria.. Those that often talk about how poor his resume was, were often about 2 years old at the time.. lmao.. He was a good finisher who was knocking highly ranked fighters out.. The Foreman in the Young fight was flawed.. I think a fired up young Tyson would have beaten that version.

 

And the ones who believe he was unbeatable were about 1 year old...... the Foreman of the Young fight may have been flawed but any version of Foreman was a stylistic nightmare for Tyson, that's why Mike would have sooner seen Don King fight him when he was Fatburger George.......

I'd get to the doctors if I was you, talking to yourself on a forum is very worrying to say the least.

 

Everyone focuses on just the power. No one gives young credit for fighting a smart fight and using a strategy to tire foreman out. Anyone can get dropped when theyre having a heat stroke in the 12th round and on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Last I checked Tyson wasnt a slick defensive counter puncher who fought on the outside in constant retreat mode making his opponent miss. Tyson may not even get the opportunity to do what young did, he'll have to go through landmines and bazookas (foremans piston jabs, uppercuts, and hooks) to get close enough to tire him out in the first place.

Do people even realize the reach/height difference or that Tyson was a mediocre inside fighter? He has to reset anytime he lands a shot and, likewise, he has to reset anytime he misses and Foreman pushes him back...

 

He wouldn't have time to reset after being pushed back and manhandled by Foreman because Foreman would be throwing those dynamite uppercuts once Mike was pushed back.
