He would win the MW title...not saying he would take the fight as its very high risk/low reward....if he did however, and won...what would be said? Martinez is 35 so he is very old so Floyd seems to go after fighting the older guys...I believe Floyd could cherrypick this old guy too:good

    Thoughts?

Martinez is a young 35 though as he didnt start boxing til later than most. FWIW, no, beating Pac would be better as they are clearly the best 2 active fighters and they are in the same weight division. Martinez is the only other guy I'd like to see Floyd fight though.

Hell no. Martinez resume and accomplishments in comparison to Pac?
Would still be meaningful to May with that add'l weight division.
Pav would've been easier pickin's though

I think it would be a better win. But it wouldn't be a larger profile win overall for him.

Either fight will definitely enhance Floyd's legacy. Adding the linear middleweight title will look nice next to his lightweight and welterweight lineal titles but a fight with Pacquiao will determine who's the better fighter and of course more money.

    No.

In hindsight it could be, i.e if he did both. But if he doesn't fight Pacquaio, people will flame him and not Pacquaio, we already know that.

If he ends up fighting both, I think he'll have a tougher time with Martinez.

    No way.

Martinez is a 154lb fighter. And PBF is now a full fledged WW. The difference in size would be negated by PBF's immense skills. I would pick him to beat Martinez.

Way better. It wouldn't even be close. Personally I think the Pac fight will be a dominating one for May. Pacquaio, although he has come a long way in recent years in terms of developing other aspects of his game (i.e. right hook, defensive etc...) he is still in many respects a left hand dominant fighter that can`t fight backing up. Also after watching Floyd be the stronger man against mosley I would have to imagine that he`ll be at a significant size and strength disadvantage against Floyd.

Martinez on the other hand is a fighter who is clearly bigger then Floyd. Can match him in foot speed. Has power in both hands. Has great reflexes. Has loads of stamina. Has a good jab. Is a cute boxer just like floyd. Rides punches very well. Adapts well to opponents. Takes a very good punch. Doesn`t have to be set to throw a punch. And can fight going forwards, backwards, and side to side.

All and all it would be a much better win then over manny for the simple fact that although manny does one thing EXTREMELY well once floyd solved that riddle it would look like every other Floyd fight where he shuts out the other fighter for the remainder of the fight. Martinez on the other hand can adapted on the fly and has many physical and technical skill that are comprable to Floyds and some are better. Honestly if Floyd beat Martinez I would automatically put him top 5 p4p all time. How could you argue against it? It he turned around and beat Margarito (who Manny will probably end up fighting). That would errace the memory of Castillo I and I would probably seriously have to look into who was better him or Robinson....but I'm not even sure I'd give floyd a chance against Martinez so this is all getting way a head of our selve.

Edit: I'm not going to erase the last couple of sentences but that stung righting that and I'd actually have to think long and hard about both those claims. A question I'd have to consider is would Floyd be able to handle a fighter like SLR? Who knows?

If we look at this rationally and without public Pacman mania. This would be HUGE! Martinez win for the lineal title would place him easily in the top 5 ATG status...if not number 1.

Pacquiao is in the need NOW though...I wouldnt wanna a Martinez fight til Post-Pacman

Really, 100 years from now, will people care more that he beat a pretty good fighter in Martinez or a possible top 20 ATG in Pacman? Come on, it's a no brainer.
