Hell, even Mitch Green had some nice tools. He was a big, strong, mean dude with surprisingly fast hands and that moved well on his feet. And he was never even really a contender. I don't know if there's anyone today that could survive even that 19 year old Tyson outside of the very elite of the division.

The 80's along with the late 50's, early 60's is the most under rated era in heavyweight history.

Douglas had the style and motivation to beat Tyson, but that was his best night. The rest of his career was up and down. So even if he pulled off an upset over either Klitschko, he would not remain champion for long.

Douglas was brilliant vs Tyson, but awful and in my opinion quit after Holyfield knocked him down.

Sure, though that defeat of Tyson was bigger and better than many out here are making it to be -after the fact of course.

    Well said. Agreed.

He sure did have better skills than both, but what he lacked in consistency, discipline, and heart would see him lose to both.

    I don't.

None of them were on the good end of the biggest upset in boxing history.

Tucker strides large in my memory in terms of bringing so much to the HW table. And perhaps he, though never Tubbs or Biggs, could have defeated the poorly trained, puffed-up version of Mike that Douglas got.

...But dems the breaks. Douglas, a 42-1 underdog, got the opportunity and took it, and looked great doing it. I cannot think of one performance by any of those you mentioned that was as impressive as Douglas on that night. He looked to me like a complete fighter. Pinklon never struck me as such.

The Buster Douglas who beat Tyson was a brute. Too bad he couldn't keep it up.

But based on that night's work, Buster would beat all HWs today except maybe the Klits.

I would favor him above Vitali. Wlad, if he is not hurt by Douglas' jabs and combinations might be able to beat him.

No....... Bus is now age 50, and even at 235 trained pounds his speed and reflexes would be slower than they were when he kicked Quinn Navarre's ass in 1997 on the comeback trail.........

Of course Bus could beat a few turkey's and lemons, but he'd lose to anyone who could push him hard for 10 or 12 rds...... WORD!
