Would a Prime Dempsey V Louis resemble Louis's first fight against Schmeling?

    Results wise, perhaps.
But how the actual fight looks? It would be drastically different.

Schmelings performance was about a meticulous technical boxing breakdown of Louis.
Boxing IQ, patience, and timing were the strong qualities that won him the fight.

Dempsey wouldn't fight that way. He had a much faster pace explosive offensive attack.
He would try to overpower and out slug Louis.

Dempsey's crouching bobbing and weaving style are what I see giving Louis problems. His inside work and body punches are superior imo too. I can't recall ever seeing Louis be as physically imposing on his opponent as Dempsey was.

However Louis was the better jab, combinations, and outside work. Can he catch Dempsey coming in? That's a very important point. Dempsey's defense is underrated and he commonly found a way in without going through hell but not against anyone nearly as good as Louis.

It's called the sweat science because boxing makes you darn sweaty. Only 1,14% of boxing matches don't feature copious sweat, that's a FACT.

I think Dempsey would be all over Louis and finish him inside a couple of rounds, but if Louis could survive the early rounds and establish his jab his chances increase dramatically.
Schmeling resembled Dempsey facially but was nothing like him in style he was a patient counter-puncher.Max hit Louis with a ton of right hands before finally getting him out of there.Dempsey would be straight into him, bulling him to the ropes slipping his jab and firing short hooks to body and head,he wouldn't give Louis chance to get set.
Because of their respective styles, I'd take prime Dempsey to beat any version of Louis .

Opponents who came straight at Louis gave him trouble! Buddy Baer floored him, Galento floored him,,Godoy gave him fits, Mauriello shook him up.

Yep, as much as I like Louis and respect the guy, I have Dempsey stopping him. It's one of those styles make fight s things in my opinion. Jack is all wrong for Joe. He had the speed, punching power and a chin to take it and heart to climb back up. Most people I pick Louis against, but not a prime Jack.

Louis was boxing Smelling as he had boxed everyone else prior to Smelling. The problem was that Smelling had smelled something rotten in Louis's style and capitalized on it.

Louis's flawed jab had absolutely nothing to do with his getting knocked out?
Gee! I thought that Shmelling had connected repeatedly because of it. I guess I must be imagining that I read that somewhere. Thanks!

Tami Mauriello did not come straight at Louis. They came out circling one another until Tami threw a feint left hook followed by a smashing right cross that catapulted Louis across the ring....THEN Tami was all over him only to be caught with a counter hook that dropped him soon after.

The two greatest in the ring.....if they fought three times Dempsey wins two ....if anybody could ko Dempsey it was the great Louis...both of these guys will be hurt maybe swimming in there own consciousness.... Dempsey recuperated so fast and fought very well when hurt...Dempsey wins....maybe...the all time matchup
