The first time I saw Joe fight the first thought that popped into my head was "wow. This white boy fights like Roy" hands at his sides jumping in and out, landing combos at will. A prime jones beats just about any fighter u can name including Joe. He was so fast and so powerful so athletic he is leaps and bounds above everybody he faced. Jones wins but not without Joe making it a decent fight. Jones by late tko.

jones coulnt even wear Joe's jock strap let alone beat him in a fight!!
come on man whats wrong with you cant you see that Joe was simply a superior fighter that roy, in that time no one could find roy , but Joe would have found him cuz of his incredible foot work...

If Hatton had never met Mayweather, and retired undefeated, I think we would be hearing similar discussions to this one.

i would go as far as to say the RJJ from the second tarver fight would have UD joe
in that first round Roy looked good. but what we did not realize he had lost his Resistance

shot jones was able to kd joe. IMO his prime version would have finished the fight there.

... and reflexes. He still had his speed but even in the Ruiz fight his trainer said Roy had been getting caught (in preparation) with punches he didn't use to get caught with before.

rjj would have boxed on the back foot hitting and moving making joe miss all night.
think about the power shots roy landed on joe in there fight. now a prime jones lands 3 or 4 times as many. before round 5. and he hit harder alot harder.

Prime for Prime, I doubt there would be any KO. Jones has power, but Calzaghe has a great chin. When Jones knocked Calzaghe down in there bout, it wasn't a punch if you look closely. Not forgetting Calzaghe used to have some decent power before his injuries.

In my opinion, I think it would have been a close bout whenever these two met. Jones would have struggled with Calzaghe's speed, constent pressure and punch output. And Calzaghe would have struggled with Jones's speed, elusiveness and power.

If I had to pick one, i'd pick Calzaghe (depending on were the bout took place).

My reason being, I have watched all of Calzaghe's bouts. He seems to find a way to win, no matter what situation he was in. He is so awkward for his opponents, and would deal with his opponents power by steamrolling them and not giving them a chance to settle.

Although you can't forget how good Jones was in his prime! You never know, he could have made Calzaghe look ordinary, but I highly doubt it. :good

What?!? Ok, who did Calzaghe ever beat with the style of jones, hopkins or Toney? Let alone the ability and skills? Always competitive  Ok dude. If anything when Calzaghe fought Hops and Jones he should have been more composed and ring smart, not to get caught and put on his ass in the 1st round. Now imagine he came to America and fought one of those guys in his prime, when he was less experienced and seasoned :deal The way those two fought in the 1st round against him, they would be able to keep that up for the entire fight. Both of them slowed down and basically did nothing in the middle and end of the fights because they were old and their legs were gone. Rewatch the early rounds of Hopkins fight and you will see what a fresh, 40 yr old, was able to do to him and his style. Now imagine Prime Jones and Hopkins, with no stamina issues, better reflexes, better speed and more motivate......= Death for Calzaghe.

I totally disagree. Even Hattons most ardent fans tend to admit he was a bit 1 dimensional. But he was very good at what he does do!
