Excluding Ruiz at heavyweight (though I would love to have seen that) who beats Calzaghe? He fought one fighter like Calzaghe - his name was Calzaghe.
Yes, he most definitely would have. Jones from 94-96 at 168 was faster, more powerful, more skilled, and all-round better in pretty much every way than Joe Calzaghe.
Everyone keeps pointing out and suggesting a Prime Calzaghe is before he had his hand injuries, when he was younger. I'd say Prime Calzaghe is against Lacey. Just like to find out how people are seeing this.
ofcource he would and the people that think different dont know a lot about boxing or havent seen prime RJJ
it makes me laugh how people make judgements on their actual fight... 1. the KD was the result of a forearm. 2. RJJ was pretty shot by the time this fight came around and would have had a completely different gameplan had he been prime. 3. JC was fighting above his prime weight. 4. JC was hardly prime as well, to me he didnt look as good as he had 4 or 5 years previously. 5. JC prime was before the hand injuries and not the Lacy fight (although certain people like to believe he was prime when he faced RJJ) IMO i take RRJ to take a close but clear UD prime for prime
A. Styles make fights and it would take some time to really pick that list apart B. You completely spun and avoided my question: Who, having the style Calzaghe has, has given Prime Jones "problems". You said Jones has always had problems with..... C. Why did you leave Hopkins and Toney the two Alltime great PRIME fighters Jones beat kind of easily off the list??? :huh
I was wondering the same Dawg. Anyway, while your breaking the list down, rank the best wins by either guy and combine them in 1 column. Tell me what your top 10 or so would be.
I'm at work now, but will try and gradually do it throughout the day. I can't keep this screen up on my computer very long at a time, ya know. :good That is like a project
But I will say Calzaghe's best win was over Kessler, and Jones's best wins are over Hopkins and Toney. Prime Ruiz at heavyweight, next to Old Hopkins at Lt Heavyweight Jones's 3rd best win I believe is 1st fight with Tarver, Calzaghe has I don't even know. Because Tarver was motivated, hungry and prime back then and that was his dream (which means alot for a boxer, the moment of truth when they are almost at the top of the mountain) Bika/Manfredo/Lacy for Calzaghe can easily be Trumped by Woods/Griffin/Hill/Devalle by Jones to be continued
