Be bigger in terms of importance? With Ward trying to prove his victory over Kovalev wasn't a fluke and Kovalev trying to prove that he should have gotten the nod. Both fighters are ranked the 2 best pound for pound fighters according to Ring magazine and TBRB
The controversial decision in the first fight makes it bigger, imo. Though Ward won officially he still has to prove he can beat Kovalev convincingly and it's Kov's chance for redemption. Factor in their P4P rankings and the fight practically sells itself.
I think the rematch is bigger in every way and depending on what transpires a third fight could be called for, I'm just so happy this looks to be happening, best fight of an amazing year so far.
Yes it is definatly bigger for those exact reasons. Well it is to me but i dont know if the ugliness of the 1st one has put some casuals off paying for another PPV. I presume it will be PPV. Both thought they won and opinions are very much mixed we need another one. I think Kov won but he needed to do more just to make sure there was no reason to give Ward the nod and he didnt and im not sure if that was cuz he thought he was doing enough or was tiring, my gut feeling is Ward just did a really good job of stopping him doing much and once Ward started with all that Kov maybe just couldnt figure a way to get Ward where he wanted him with the time to do anything.
Hopefully the fight will give a definitive answer as to who is the best fighter but I don't see it selling anymore than the first fight.
Really think there will be more interest in the rematch. Those dug in on each side...as to the winner...will still be there pulling for their guy. The additional drama will bring more in. My guess. Think Kov will be out for the KO in every round in this one. Ward will be there for the UD. Don't see there being any interest for a trilogy though.
I think Ward picks up where he left off and wins a more decisive decision this time. Kovalev's aggression and anger will play right into Ward's hands UNLESS Ward gets careless and gets knocked out. Just my opinion.
I shouldn't say "careless", that discredits what Kovalev brings to the table. I mean if Ward has a mental lapse or falls for a trap.
