Would a trainer like Emmanuel Steward "fix" Williams deficiencies?

    Williams has all the tools to become a great multidivision champ. But the guy simply doesn´t use those tools properly. The guy has zero defense (I think he just doesn´t care about it), gives away his height by fighting close quarters, toe to toe all the time and his fight plan resumes to "throw 100+ punches per round". The guy is simply too careless and relies too much in his stamina and size.

    If something Martinez-Williams II proved, is that Martinez was the one guy who LEARNED something from the first fight. That punch was no fluke.

    Now, could some world class trainer (Steward, for exammple) teach Williams at his age to fight tall and to develop some decent defensive skills? Can still Williams live up to his potential?

    Even if he couldn't fix all of Paul's bad habits, he would certainly make an improvement on that idiot Peterson and his corner. It would be the best move for Paul, atleast Manny knows what he's doing.

    No, Williams is too far gone in his career to completely change his style. Even Steward says he doesn't changes his fighters styles but rather tweeks them. He can't make Williams fight like Wlad. If he had him a good few years back he could have turned him into something special. His physical advantages are crazy.

    If he could make Williams stick his jab out and snap it like Hearns and throw the left like Hearns the right? Just too much to change and Williams wouldn't stick to it. Williams is a good fighter, but not great. Hearns was great and used his height and reach.

    I dont know .Maybe not 100% fix but he will improve Williams maybe just the same way as Wlad:):)Jab Jab jab straight right end of the fight:):)

    ummmm... not likely imo... maybe somebody else but Stew is highly overrated... hell, maybe nobody can!

    Wlad prior to Steward never had as many bad habits as Williams.

    The problem with Jermain is that he is mentally weak. With all his physical tools and atleticism, the guy has a low boxing IQ. That and awful stamina.

    I dont think he gives up his height cause he is not disciplined, I believe he gives up his height cause he is not particularly effective from range, which is most probably why Cintron was able to outbox him from range, why Martinez, even in the first fight, was able to outbox him unless he was constantly pressing the gap, applying pressure.
