Would a win over Dawson right now be better than a win over Kessler?

If Joe moved up to LHW and beat Chad Dawson right now, would that win have more significance for his career than his win over Kessler?

I say no. Kessler was a unified champ who fought as good competition as Dawson but dominated more, and did so for a longer time.

Dawson is still very inexperienced imo.

No. Kessler was the top test in the Super Middleweight division, and there was a lot of significance to that match. It had to happen, and Joe made the right choice.

No. Kessler was a better champion.

kessler was a far worthier opponent. joe did what he had too. i doubt anyone he fights again will match that win. especially not a worn out hopkins

Who the **** is Dawson. He will loose to Johnson and then people will finnaly shut up about him. He is just another ove rhyped yank like Lacy!

Yes. Dawson is taller, longer, faster, more versatile, and a better overall fighter. He also fights out of the Southpaw stance. All of this leads to him being a tougher matchup for Joe than was Kessler. Dawson will definately finish his career as a better fighter than Kessler. He'll probably surpass in in the next year or two.

Equal, I would say. Dawson would give the hardest fight to Joe at 175 so a win against him would mean more than a win against any other opponent at 168-175.

Joe did the right thing when he fought Mikkel, but he didn't fight Mikkel willingly; in many ways, he felt compelled to fight him. Joe would do the right thing to fight Dawson, but he is not feeling compelled to, so he takes an easy ride for a lot of money against Hopkins instead. It's how it works.

This post is completely ignorant. Dawson will wipe the floor with Johnson, and there is no comparison between Dawson and Lacy except that they're both American. Comparing Lacy to Dawson is similar to comparing Hatton to Calzaghe.

Dawson is amazing. He is p4p top 3 at 168-175 for sure in my book.

I was talking more about their styles rather than their talent.

Dawson has a very simular level of talent to Kessler but their are still questions about his chin/heart that will be awnsered later in his career. Imo he's a red hot prospect at the moment and we'll find out just how good he is hopefully in the next year.
