You are exactly right. A couple means 2 no more no less. If English is his language then he needs to hang his head in shame Also Lennox was not KOed with one punch against Mcall he was knoacked down got up at 6 count ref stopped it and Lennox rightfully complained, it was a title fight he had the right to continue.
Ali wins.. but not by KO.. I like Lewis but some of you saying he wins by KO just doesn't make sense to me.. SMH
If you use it as an idiom it can mean more than two, that's how he was using it (I think). "a couple of, more than two, but not many, of; a small number of; a few: It will take a couple of days for the package to get there. Also, a couple." And besides that I already apologised for getting on his case, I was tired and hungover the other day. Jesus christ.
Lennox was stubbling into the ref as the count reached 10. How on earth could the ref have continued the fight? Should have stepped aside and let Lewis stumble past him back into the fight? Should he have held Lewis up until he was ready? Lewis was finished, and it was stopped the way it should have been.
Nope. His movement would cause discomfort for the more clumsy Lennox early on. However, Lennox would win the fight in the end.
I honestly don't think he beats Lewis or the Klitschko brothers. Just being honest. I think that Ali would beat any 215 lber and down today. However, Ali was considered sort of tall and big for his era. Just as BIG George Foreman was about the size of David Haye. Ali used to use his height to lean back and away from the fighters of his day. He was obviously great in his era. However, I don't think that his style would do him any favors against guys like Lennox or Wlad. Guys with size on him... speed, a great jab of their own... big guys with a sort of athletic ability and technical skills combined that Ali had never faced before. A decent sized athlete without the skills of them, such as Ken Norton... who was Ali's height showed me exactly how difficult a guy like that could make things for Ali. Norton arguably won all three fights against him,and without a doubt gave him absolute hell. As I said... I honestly don't see Ali beating Lewis or the Klitschko brothers. It's almost unfair to compare him against them considering his era was so much different. Yes, he had great fighters... but they were great for their own era. I don't even like to talk about mythical matchups like this because I don't like to disrespect other fighters... they are sort of pointless... and I think that fighters should be left, and judged by what they did in their own time, against guys from their era. Same goes for every other sport in the world. Athletes have just evolved too much over that span... it's undeniable.
Ali retired young George Foreman basically and he was decapitating people, Ali had an iron jaw and he could outbox Lewis. Everyone thought Foreman would destroy Ali and so would Liston etc. In a 15 round fight I think the best version of Ali could TKO Lewis in the late rounds. The pre prison version of Ali.
Refer to post 1 of this thread...:hi: Now were does it say we're talking about 64-67 Ali?? Nowhere. So far I'm seeing only 1 ****** who has bad grammar. You might want to look in the mirror if you want to see him. Georget Chivalo and Ernie Terrell managed the distance in this period you speak of, but Lewis wouldn't cos obviously he wasnt as tough or talented as those was he? Loads of fighters went the distance before and especially after your select dates. In fact most of his career defining fights were after that. And the last thing a fighter loses is his power so just because he had fewer KO's later on didnt mean he lost his power...just he had a few tougher opponents who could take it. Lewis would see the last round in a fight vs Ali...and even have a good chance of winning. Remember Ali really lost against Norton in 2 of his 3 fights - he definately got a gift win in at least one of his 3 fights. I've watched those fights over and over and cant see Ali winning 2 of the 3 no matter how hard I try to. And I am a huge Ali fight. Lewis was a good cut about most of those on Ali's record and was no Cleveland Williams.
Nah sorry, big Lewis fan here but Lennox was up but on very very wobbly legs - he was still gone. When a ref see's a fighter get up he wants to see him walk in a straight line and show that he's ok..Lennox didnt cos he was gone. All would have happend would have been he would have been sent back to the canvas very quickly. Ref did him a favour.
ali was too mobile for lewis. he would literally box circles around lewis. i don't know if he would knock him out, but he would win at least 10 out of 15 rounds on his worst day.
I'm usually not a fan of your posts because they're too Klitschko centric for me, but I call them as I see them, and this is a very good post.
