It's funny how some fighters can perform at an advanced age and some can't. Ali who many consider he greatest HW of all time really wasn't much as he approached his mid to late thirties while guys like Foreman, Holmes and even Jack Johnson were effective even into thier 40's (can't forget Robinson and Moore either). The 2 or 3 HW's who could duplicate what Foreman did at or about the same age would be Holmes, Johnson and maybe Moore even though he was a LHW (But could easily pack on a few pounds and fight as a HW). They seemed to be able to fight effectively at an older age and heavier weight, maybe due to thier style or thier genetic makeup or both.

Holmes only had a 3 year layoff not the 10 Foreman had.

Marciano struggled to fight into his 30s no way hes coming back in his 40s and being effective.

No I cant see any doing what George did.

The answer to this thread is probably not.

    What Foreman did was unique.

Good way to put into perspective what a great achievement it was.

No, I can't see anyone of them doing it really. Foreman was ideally suited to such a comeback. His main physical assets - strength, power and durability - stays along much longer than speed and reflexes, and he was very succesful in adopting a style that made the most of his assets and covered his weaknesses as much as possible. He was also very strongly driven motivationally. It wasn't just about the money, but a mission in itself. Add very schrewd public relations and career management to that, and you have the fairy tale that Foreman's comeback became.
