I said it before but with this version of Joshua, he is tailor made for Tyson. Tyson has the leg speed and power to spring in with devastating single shots or combinations similar to what Povetkin was able to land. AJ would need to be a lot more defensive, his current attacks would leave him much more vulnerable to Tyson's powerful counters. we have seen AJ wobbled and hurt frequently, thats not to say his chin is bad but a fighter like Tyson will be able to land on it a lot more. AJ would have to turn into Wlad and hug, wrestle, use his size on Mike to even stand a chance of making into the second half of the fight to have a better chance. without being smart about it the two stone advantage means a lot less.

It's that initial burst and acceleration of speed to get inside that would be a killer for Joshua. It's an underrated or often unnoticed attribute that can be a key for victory for a fighter. Whenever I watch Lewis/Bowe Olympic fight that's the thing I noticed in the 2nd round, when Lewis decided to just jump in first Bowe just wasn't quick enough to respond and get out of the way and would get caught. Even if you have good footwork and lateral movement if you can't respond in time or even if you can but your first step is too slow, you'll get caught.

Mike Tyson was also a shot fighter by age 35 (Lewis time).

    Let's compare peak for peak.

Yup, Mike has stamina problems when he went 12 rounds with Tillis, Smith, Tucker, Green and Ruddock?

Povetkin was also a 'shot' fighter by his late 30's, if you wanna play that game.

Difference is, Povetkin, despite being shot, performed much better against better level of opposition than Mike Tyson did against inferior level of opposition.

Povetkin at age 39, when shot, winning multiple rounds against unified champion Anthony Joshua whilst giving him a busted nose and giving him 2nd toughest fight of his career > Mike Tyson at age 38, getting blasted out of the ring by bums and journeymen like Danny Williams and Kevin McBride.

At least Povetkin NEVER lost to journeymen / bum caliber opponents like Mike Tyson did. Povetkin's only 2 losses came to the ABSOLUTE 2 best of heavyweights of their respective era. Whilst Mike Tyson not only lost, but was knocked out in humiliating / embarrassing fashion to a bunch of nobodies and had absolutely no consistency in his career.

There isn't a mythical 'peak' for Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson at during his peak, lost to Buster Douglas. Something that has never happened to Povetkin.

When Tyson lost his speed at an old age, he became a bum, that lost to bums. When Povetkin lost his speed at an old age (he was ALWAYS slower than Tyson to begin with), he was still far more effective than Tyson because he has superior technical / tactical skills to make up for his inferior skills.

If someone like Mitch Greene and Tony Tucker could survive Tyson then why wouldn't Joshua cause him problems?

Joshua is not Frank Bruno. He knows how to weather a storm and has a vicious uppercut.

From what I've seen so far, I'd have to have favoured Mike to have gotten inside and stopped him.

Mike had a good chin and was far better offensively.

    So what?

Roy Jones got beat by Glen Johnson.

Hopkins got knocked out of the ring by Smith.

What you have written has no relevance to the TS's question.

Of course he'd have reached him.

He'd have bobbed and weaved to get inside.

He did it his entire career.
