Let’s say Tyson Fury didnt exist, would Anthony Joshua have beat Wladimir Klitschko in Düsseldorf? If not who do you think could have cause the upset (2015 and onwards)?
Joshua would've been too green for Wlad at that point. But i think he could beat him in a rematch two or three years later and end his reign. if not him, then Wilder could probably catch an aging Wlad with a right and stop him, seeing as Wlad never had the best chin.
I think he definitely could have, but my instinct is that Joshua would have got reckless and caught after thinking he'd got Klitschko hurt
Current Aj vs 2015 Klitschko ? Aj in a VERY difficult fight. 2015 Aj vs 2015 Klitschko ? Klitschko in a somewhat difficult fight.
Could? Yes. Would? I would say most likely not. Why? Because Fury defeated Wlad from the outside. You cant win against Wlad under K2 rules because those rules are: - Clinching (for Wlad) allowed - Infight (for the opponent) not allowed AJ doesnt have the skill to outpoint Wlad from the outside, or lets say he cant avoid getting catched and move around like Fury did that evening in November 2015 aged 27. Look the Wlad-Povetkin fight and you see K2 Boxing at his best. Even the fight was in Russia, the Referee was definately from K2 since he allowed Wlad 10-20 clinches in one round without warning him. If AJ would hurt Wlad, Wlad would grab him like an Octupus and even AJ could not getting out of that grip. And if he would try, the ref would warn him because infight is not allowed. Take the Ref from Wlad-Fury, Tony Weeks, and put him in the AJ-Wlad Fight. You can bet money AJ would not have survived the 6th round. After the knockdown, Weeks would stop the fight and say afterwards AJ looked to dizzy and was never able to continue. In Germany or anywhere else after K2 rules: 80-20 Wlad. PS: This does NOT mean automatically Fury would beat AJ with ease, but style makes fights Fury did the right thing to beat Wlad under K2 rules. Long from the Outside since Infight is basically ilegal. Lamon Brewster found that out in 2007. Samuel Peter later too in 2010. They both had great fights against Wlad in 2004 and 2005, but they were in America under normal Boxing rules. Both of them had a rematch with him in K2 land and both had no chance. Corrie Sanders would also have a MUCH harder time to beat Wlad in the K2 world as he did in 2003, when the Klitschko´s were still in the Universum Box Promotion.
No , Joshua is a hometown fighter, until he wins a big fight in Las Vegas, he can't be considered great.
The weekly AJ vs some different version of Wlad thread is here lol. Wlad was old in the AJ fight but how exactly would any other version have handled the fight? He literally fought exactly the same for years. I think Wlad has his moments but he’s always been way too overly cautious, which is why I’d always give AJ a good chance at beating any version.
Wlad from 2015 was way more active, better speed and better reflexes than 2017. So what do you think would have happened? Wlad would have eaten joshua alive. Wlad has some problems besides boxing when he fought fury. A full focused wlad would stop fury late
