I believe that this fight is a waste of time, AJ will benefit from the experience of fighting on such a stage, handling nerves eg, but from a boxing view point I believe he would learn more from sparring World Class opponents than fighting the likes of Matt Legg. What's peoples views?

Yes, good sparring would definitely teach him more as fighting stiffs.

Just trowing a couple of punches and see your opponent fall down does nothing for your experience or ability. The only thing it's good for is building unsubstantiated hype and recordpadding.

    BUT

IF he gets put down in sparring or beat up in sparring then it doesn't matter

they are trying to build his career here and make him a player on the world scene that takes time. If he gets beat up or put down in the pro ranks early questions start to be raised. Look at Khan he was rebuilt well but it was a setback promoters don't want to deal with

Considering the Legg guy is ranked in the 500's I imagine you could get much better rounds in most gyms. Pretty sure you could get a novice off the street who would be better if in shape.

I recall when Bruno fought Chuck Gardener, the boy Chuck was back on the bins the following day and it was a story in the print media that Bruno was scraping about bins for bums to fight. Hearn and Mickey Duff, same ethos.

Joshua is not learning anything from his fight with a boxer who has no skills...........

His sparring is I would think definitely of a better quality than this fight . Joshua will be learning new things in sparring hopefully and his fights are made to show to him and his backers that lessons are being learnt and improvements made

Yes it did, but that's exactly my point. Look where he stands technically after 5½ years as a pro and 30+ fights fighting those stiffs. Don't think you want that for Anthony right?

He would learn more but not earn more.
