If Roy was in the modern LHW Division, is there anyone from the days of Dawson/Kov/Stevenson to now that troubles/even beats him?

Well, given that Roy Jones mainly fought cab drivers at 175, I would say there are several fighters who would beat him. Kovalev sends him into another dimension.

Bivol, Kovalev and Gvodzyk. Beterbiev possibly kills him. RJJ at this weight was overrated.

Just lol at the answers in this thread.

No, none of them. They are all far too stiff and basic.

Andre Ward would be somewhat competetive but he's the only recent one.

RJJ was untouchable and unbeatable at MW and SMW from 1992-1996.

I wouldnt rate him as an elite LHW who would smash most elite champions from other eras at LHW though. He was never that impressive at LHW and above in my view. A great champion but he was fighting above is best weight which was MW to SMW.

Andre Ward, Kovalev, Dawson, Bivol, Stevenson all have a chance at beating him. RJJ vs Andre Dirrell(prime and motivated) would hace been a good fight at 168 IMO, at least while it lasted.

RJJ doesnt lose a round running this gauntlet.

Ward gets ice'd quickest of all them.

When did Roy ever fight anyone close to as fast as he was, and on top of that Dirrell was taller and longer and very skilled. All I'm saying is I think it would have been interesting for as long as it lasted, I never said I thought Dirrell would beat him.

I know that roy jones was one of the fastest fighters I've ever seen. But whenever I rewatch some of his fights again for whatever reason, I'm always surprised about how fast he was. It's so fast that it's ridiculous. RJJ shits all over prime kovalev, how's kovalev going to conect a lucky punch in slow motion? the same goes for basically every other fighter at 175. I rewatched a RJJ fight not too long ago, and I hardly could believe that speed. Ridiculous, as I said.

Roy casual fans can’t be reasoned with. Same as Tyson’s. To them no one beats their guy in his prime or even comes close. Roy was knocked down by Lou del Valle at LHW. So knock off the fan boy crap. The question wasn’t does Roy lose. Questions first part was “...trouble him”. Yes. Lots of LHW can trouble him. Fewer could beat him though but Kovalev is one since Roy’s chin was suspect. Beterbiev as well.
