Sadly, I suspect the ship has already sailed for Fury on this question. He had potential to do so, but personal issues, inactivity/weight gain, retirements, and Covid-19, have ended any realistic chance of toppling Lewis. I don't think Fury will want to stick around to put his stamp on the next generation coming through. Lewis retiring with a win over Vitali was really the icing on the cake of a great career. Fury and Lewis are my two favourite British heavyweights but consider this: Klitschko - Fury was the passing of the torch fight, which Fury won. The young replacing the old. The natural order of things. And that's still Fury's best win. Lewis - Klitschko was also a passing of the torch fight, but one which the old lion won! In doing so, Lewis beat a prime version of who many considered to be the better brother. At this point, Fury is way behind, and I just don't think there is realistically enough time for him to surpass Lewis at this stage.
