60/40 Lyle ... Galento has a puncher's chance and Lyle was nowhere near as good as he's built up on this forum. I don't know who's more overrated here, him or Young.
Probably not. Lyle rose off the canvas to stop Earnie Shavers then four months later gave George Foreman the toughest fight of his first career. The Types of fighters who were the biggest problem for Ron ( in his prime ) were boxers like Ali, young and Quarry. Tony Galento didn’t fit that template.
I actually think it would be a good fight. Lyle may have to come off the deck to win. I don't see Galento being a pushover.
Agreed. Tony is a hard, hard man with a great left hook, he's Tua prototype basically. No man capable of flooring Louis is a pushover.
If you want this to be competitive and fun, get a real lenient ref who overlooks some fouls. Small ring, small gloves, and allow the two of them to tussle a bit after Galento's inevitable trash talk to build up tension. Lyle still wins, but he's going to be in some pain whether it's from a cracking hook, or from a kick to the shins. Lyle by KO within 4-6 rounds in an ugly slug fest.
