No idea, but I would love to see the fight. I think Hopkins wins btw. Dawson is southpaw like Calzaghe. So where are their differences: Calzaghe is far more routined, experienced, much much smarter, faster, far better chin, higher output (yes, he does - despite Dawson's high output it does not rival Calzaghe's). Dawson hits harder and has slightly longer reach and height. Conclusion: All of the things that weigh in favor of Calzaghe are things Hopkins can have trouble with. The things where Dawson has an edge on Calzaghe are completely unimportant to Hopkins. Power, height and reach will not bother Bernard in the slightest. So in effect Dawson is a far inferior fighter to Calzaghe - at least as seen from Bernard's view where the power etc. of Dawson will be easily negated.
I don't think so. This would be a great fight. :good Dawson has speed and puts combinations together beautifully. That is what gives Hopkins trouble. I give Hopkins a slight edge but I think it would be close.
No completely different styles. With Dawson Hopkins would be the slower man and would get blasted with combos and have to use his legs way more.
That would be much more competitive. Dawson has the handspeend and is a better fighter than Pavlik. Quick on his feet also, Bernard would have much more trouble with him.
Not a chance. Styles make fights, Dawsons athleticsm and southpaw style would give Hopkins nightmares, Dawson is like a more skilled version of Taylor. Hopkins is no better than before the Pavlik fight, Pavlik had the perfect style for Hopkins, let's not get carried away with the hype fickle boxing fans.
Yes he would school Dawson. Hopkins dominated Pavlik, partly because Pavlik is too slow to load up punches. But nobody can deny Hopkins style is almost identical to Ruiz. It frustrates any fighters, even Calzaghe albeit winning. I am not talking only about htis fight, but in all of Hopkins' big fights except perhaps back then against Jones. I think if he and Jones fought a rematch, it would have been a different outcome if Hopkins fights like this. He hops in, throws a punch or 2 then clinch. If an opponent is slow like Pavlik, then he can afford to throw combinations and reduce the amount of holding. But against fighters like Calzaghe and Winky, he turns into a LHW version of Ruiz.
I think Dawson would be too fast for Hopkins. I expect a bunch of head clashes if the fight happens since Dawson is a lefty and Bernard might resort leading with his head while on offense. Dawson UD.
Against Hopkins he would look slow, jerkoff. Hopkins will throw lead rights and hold him before he even realises.
Hell no, speed ****s Hopkins which is why he couldn't beat Taylor plus Dawson is alot bigger than Pavlik
Dawson wide UD. Hopkins can't maintain against that brand of speed and workrate. If Taylor could do it, so can Dawson, who is clearly superior to both Taylor and Pavlik.
