I agree with most of your points. But people said he wouldn't beat Tarver/Trinidad/Pavlik. If B-Hop forumulates a plan he believes in, I believe he can beat Chad Dawson, and nullify his hand speed. Dawson stops for periods in rounds, I think this is when B-Hop would press the fight. Let's not forget that Dawson was floored heavily by Adamek, and many think Glen Johnson beat him. So....Dawson would totally outclass B-Hop??? I personally think Dawson wins it by a point or two in a decision not far off from the first Taylor fight.
The way to beat Hopkins as evidence in the Taylor and Calzaghe fights is to maintain a high workrate and jab. Dawson is great at both. I think Dawson would UD Hopkins. Close but clear.
Dawson wouldn't outclass Hopkins, as no one in history is going to outclass Hopkins, but he has the speed that troubles him so badly. Bernard likes to time his opponents' punches, and against Taylor he couldn't pull the trigger. Dawson is bigger and faster and more accurate than Taylor, plus has better stamina and a slightly better defense. This is the worst matchup for today's version of Hopkins.
Dawson has a way different style than Pavlik. So stylewise, he would have a good chance to win. But I wouldn't be surprised if the LEGEND pulled off a win in this one too.
As mentioned; Dawson has the sorts of gifts that would give Hopkins a handfull - however, Hopkins would have a very good chance of stopping Chad Dawson. Hopkins would be setting all sorts of traps and landing the right hand with authority. People need to think real hard about this one.
Come on man WTF. Dawson can fight on the inside and can put punches together like none other. He has great footwork and hand and foot speed. Bhop could catch him and hurt him but I think Dawson is a lot more sturdy then those give him credit for. That punch Glen Johnson landed in the 7th round was a harder shot then what put Roy to sleep. I mean that was a monster shot. Dawson fought through it and did not lose steam and won the next round.
One thing in favor of Hop I havent seen mentioned is that Dawson does get out of position quite a bit, or at least from what I have seen (Tarver and Johnson). I am not saying Hop would win, not an easy one to call to me.
I learned my lesson this time. No way am I gonna say Dawson would beat Hopkins. Dawson is capable, but as we seem to always find out, you never can write Hopkins off. They said Trinadad would beat him, he destroyed him(I picked Hopkins for that) They said Taylor finished him and moving to LT HVY against Tarver was a mistake, he whipped Tarver. They said Winky would be too slick for him, Winky wasn't and hasnt fought since. I personally thought this would be it against Pavlik. He really faded against Calzaghe and started to show his age in that fight. But he literally turned the clock back like 10 years and shut out and battered the undefeated Middleweight champion of the world. So he can beat Dawson, especially with Dawson's chin questions.
Dawson will a win a close but clear UD. He is fast southpaw and has power. It will be a different fight than the Pavlik fight thats for sure.
great fight but dawson is more like calzaghe than pavlik and is bigger ...I like dawson but with bhop u just never know
Dawson is faster than Calzaghe, both hand and foot speed. :deal Dawson UD 12 BHop, Hops just can't handle the workrate.
