No. Cotto is used goods now, too many wars, too much punishment. Maybe 5 yrs ago, but not now. He's a dead man walking in this bout.

It depends on how the fight plays out, but I could see it fitting into his top 5.

Fans fail to realize that Shane Mosley was ranked #3 in the world at the time Floyd beat him. Mosley was ranked above Pacquiao at WW when Floyd beat him too.

People fail to realize that Floyd was said to be "scared" of Mosley post Marquez-Mayweather. It wasn't until after the fight was signed that Shane was too old etc etc...

Floyd don't get the credit he deserves..he gets underneath the credit he deserves...but never the credit he deserves.

All three of those men were legitimate world champions. Get back to me when Cotto unifies or beats a "champion" in a fight where the belt wasn't dug from a garbage can. The more Cotto boxes the shittier he looks and part of it is because he is not mauling tomato cans anymore like he did for the first three quarters of his career. His best win by far was against Mosley and I had him losing a clear but close(numerically) decision. For the record I had money on Cotto that fight so you can guess who I was biased in favor of.

So b/c Baldomir was a "legitimate" champion, does that mean he had more skills than someone like Cotto? I'd say no. As for unification, you know that just doesnt happen anymore b/c of politics. So that's just totally irrelevant. I dont see floyd unifying anything.

I'm simply talking about cotto's overall skills or layers as many would say. He isnt a 1-dimensional fighter like Corrales and Hatton. As for tomato can opponents, you should definitely also look at Hatton's career.

Cotto can punch, use "effective" aggression, box off the back foot, with an average defense.

Hatton can punch and is aggressive with 0 boxing skills. He's just another Gatti whose career was better b/c of his competition at home

Corrales, great puncher with decent boxing skills. cant fight backwards. similar to pavlik and trinidad in that if plan A doesnt work, he has no plan B.

Cotto 1st half of his career showed him being a tremendous boxer puncher (against average competition). He has refined his style to include boxing more than just being a hunter. That's how he beat mosley and margarito b/c he's not stupid enough to try to fight outside himself (he's not physically strong enough to press them).

So again, he posseses a better skillset than Hatton and Corrales despite the existing circumstances around their fight with floyd

If Cotto has enough left, sure it'll be one of his best wins. Definitely his best win above 140 next to Oscar.

I expect Cotto to lump Floyd up a lil. Nobody comes out of a Cotto fight unscathed. Beating Cotto is a very good win for any fighter.

It was a good win for Pacquiao even though Pacquiao didn't need the fight at 145. Floyd will have to be very aggressive in this fight. Cotto can box, and he can punch. He can also go southpaw. Floyd knows Cotto has no right hand. It's going to be a calculated fight because both can think in the ring.

Cotto will fade later, and that is when Floyd will catch up to Cotto.
