Why? I've always scratched my head about that. Usyk isn't a big draw, and Bellew would lose. That might MAKE Usyk a draw in GB, so it would be a dream fight for Usyk, but whats in it for Bellew? Unless Usyk fights for free, and Bellew gets 100% of the purse (and if I were Usyk I might STILL agree to those terms for an easy fight that makes me a financial draw), then I don't see this as anything other than a way for Bellew to get leverage for better terms for more lucrative fights, like Fury.
Small chance. But realistically there's bound to be some excuse for it not to happen. Usyk looks unbeatable. And Bellew is gonna be hit with speed all night long, it'd be a nightmare for him. Bellew fancies it with all the belts on the line, and I do think there would be good money involved in a PPV clash, Hearn would sell it.. So .. I give it a small chance of happening. But I reckon it's likely Bellews next fight is a Stevenson rematch.
Of course Bellew would take the fight. Usyk's profile has risen from winning the WBSS, and people in the UK will buy an Usyk - Bellew PPV. Add that Usyk doesn't have much power and Bellew can have one last fight and leave the sport with his faculties intact. There's no other realistic fight out there for Bellew unless he is willing to risk getting knocked out by a proper heavyweight.
Fighting Fury would make alot more money, and Fury might be shot. And doesn't hit much harder than Usyk. I'd actually give Bellew a bit better chance right now against Fury than Usyk.
The only chance of Bellew and Fury fighting is if Fury's deal with Warren ends, by which time Bellew may well have retired. The only other financially lucrative option would be Dillian Whyte, who hits too hard.
I don't see any other fight out there for Bellew. I don't think he will want to drain himself down far enough to face Stevenson and he is too dangerous for Fury at the moment. So really all he's left with is fight Usyk for one last PPV, lose, then retire or just retire now. I think he'll fight Usyk.
Im sure Eddie would at 1st be against it but then find a way to shoe horn Uysk into a DAZN night may sway him the other way. Bellew wouldnt hesitate, he dont care he is a warrior and he is high as a kite from beating David Haye twice.
It makes a lot of sense for Usyk, beating Bellew would make him a bigger draw in the UK. And eventually for fights against the likes of Whyte, Fury and Joshua. The only fight out there that makes sense for Bellew is Stevenson, perhaps the most elusive fighter, outside of the ring.
