Would bigger legs have added to Tommy Hearns' power?

I have heard that power is generated by the legs and hips. Of course, hearns' broad shoulders and narrow waist helped him turn the hips over more easily, but how would have bigger legs helped him? Asking because I am in a similar position with skinny legs and big broad gangly upper body.

In November I fought at 61kg at 6ft 2. This was an unusually low weight for me as I had the flu before the fight. I usually am 65kg and punch maybe a little harder. At 61, I was able to definetly make my opponent hesitant with my power but wasn't able to hurt him as badly as I should have done.

Thank you for your help, and I do understand that weight = power, but what muscles really help? excuse my dumb question.

    Wilder has twig legs

Punching hard is genetic, it's a full body thing, a complex mechanism of kinetics. You aren't going to change what you were born with. Sticking a few pounds of muscle on here or there won't do much.

Legs have nothing to do with power. GGG has chicken legs, Wilder does to, hearns,

I have dropped guys in fights and sparring before, so I am wondering if I should just fight a few kilos heavier. Thanks for your response.

No, Hearns had perfect body mechanics when he punched.

true, seems like guys like wilder and hearns use their chest stretch like a sling shot that activates the hips. I have always wondered if GGG hits so hard due to his wide torso, that and incredible punch mechanics lol

Nobody can answer that question here, lots of factors go into it. What level you compete at. How often you compete. What your goals are. How often you workout. The list goes on.

You shouldn't be concerned about what weight you think you hit harder at. That premise is flawed.

May have hindered him - who knows.

Genetics, timing, technique etc played a bigger part.

 Nothing??? Are you kidding me with this statement?? Legs have a lot to do with power. Now, not ALL, but they bring a lot. Look at the legs of Tito. He wasn't built like a truck, but he had think legs. Same w/ Pac. Tree trucks for thighs!

You need to understand there is not ONE answer to where power comes from. You saying legs have nothing to do with is just wrong. Saying it comes from bone density alone is wrong.
