I agree if someone really works at it I don't see why it would not work if your a shorter fighter

It'd work fine with the right body types, but it will always be rare to see at a high level in heavyweight boxing. Along with the size issue (one of the funnier Wlad posts I read knocked him for not bobbing and weaving), the style is vulnerable against bigger punchers who have the accuracy and timing to get to you. Durability is a major issue because the style is extremely demanding physically- longevity will be affected. Even Tyson stopped doing it alot as his career wore on compared to his early days.

It'll always be rare to see the right blend of qualities to pull it off well at heavyweight. And if we do, we won't see it for long.

Worked against Tysons poor opposition. Whenever he boxed someone half-decent all his bobbin' and weavin' was just a waste of time and energy.

Tyson didn't do it as much towards the end of his career but he only loss six times. Buster Douglas, Holyfield( twice ) Lennox Lewis. All those gents were more than half decent. He got stopped his last two fights but he was done long before that happened. The fact is that bobbing and weaving is not wasted motion. It's a means to an end and is a significant part in a lot of fighters game plan. I won't break it all the way down for you because that would truly be a waste of time and energy.

Bobbing and weaving will work on some but not on the more skilled.

Bobbing and weaving works, but it requires tremendous stamina to sustain it, and you need to be able to incorporate it into your offense and footwork.

If you are bobbing and weaving against an opponent who has a formidable offense, well, lots of luck because he's going to feint you and start steering you into punches, if he's really good he's going to vary the timing of his punches and if he's really, really good he's going to throw punches at unusual angles, sort of like Wladimir K. vs Chris Byrd opposed to Byrd vs Vitali.

First of all you guys haven't even mentioned the best bob n weaver in boxing today, alexander povetkin

The style would NEVER work on wlad or vitali. They can easily pick you apart from a distance. Want to see what happens when that style is used against a big man? Watch fraizer vs foreman 1 and 2.

It can still work well today but it has to be one of many ingredients to your game and must be done well and used intelligently or it can be a glaring fault.

It's obvious that you gents are holding a conversation about something you don't really know that much about. I also see where people are writing phrases like " modern boxing". I haven't seen a fighter do any move or throw any punch that hasn't been made or thrown before, waaay before. I haven't seen a new style and you know why, because every fighter copied some other fighters style. Right today, I've seen Pac and I've seen JMM bob. I've seen Mayweather weave and I've see Canelo weave. Joe Fraizer bobbed all the time but he never weaved. Pernell bobbed and weaved. Quawi was an excellent bobber. It's about rhythm and timing.
