Would Boots Ennis be competitive with a prime Sugar Ray Leonard

Guessing someone’s potential is trivial. Fight world class opponents and it shows how good you actually are

 

Ennis has the physical tools to give anyone in history trouble. Let’s remember though, Boots has only fought one pure boxer in Karen and he didn’t look all that. SRL’s boxing skills and physical gifts are lightyears above Karen’s so I can’t really picture Ennis having much success. Ennis’ career is still moving strong though so there’s a chance that he can change my mind in the future.

The only way Ennis MIGHT be competitive with PRIME Sugar Ray Leonard is if Ennis actually fights and BEATS the top dogs of his division consistently over a number of years.

Ennis has talent, but he has just beaten fringe contenders at best. Sugar Ray Leonard literally beat multiple ATG fighters - Duran, Hearns, Benitez, Hagler even if debatable.
