Yeah mate that’s why there have been so many heavyweight champions of Rocky’s size since he retired. Completely agree. Size is completely irrelevant at heavyweight.

    Cheers All.

Bowe couldn't take the punishment Rocky would dish out.

Agreed, Bowe wouldn’t throw any punches back and would be destroyed by the punishment Rocky would dish out. No man ever born could handle Rocky’s “punishment”.

    Cheers All.

Floyd Patterson was the exact same size as Marciano and he was champ after Marciano as well.

The average heavyweight in Marciano's era was the same average that it was in Jack Johnson's era and Muhammad Ali's. Heavyweights stayed the same size until the cruiserweight division was invented

THEN ALL OF THE DECENT MARCIANO SIZED FIGHTERS WENT TO CRUISERWEIGHT

Except for the ones who came up and kicked "super heavyweight" ass like Holyfield, Byrd, Moorer, Michael Spinks, etc

This. Rocky would beat him to the punch if Bowe tried to mix it up on the inside and Bowe wouldn’t want to take too many flush shots from Rocky.

What’s your basis for this? The heavyweights atop the division had grown significantly bigger well before the advent of the cruiserweight division.

Anyone who claims Holyfield is the same size as Marciano is telling pork pies and or has an agenda. It’s simply untrue.

Are you trying to infer that there is a pool of cruiser weight fighters who could have been heavyweight champions but preferred to fight for small coin at cruiser instead ? A ludicrous proposition.

You managed to name ONE fighter similar in size to Marciano ( Patterson ) who has been champion in the sixty plus years since. Thanks for proving my point, Lachbuster.

Marciano had a mere seven fights at heavyweight championship level and two were rematches against against guys he had already beaten yet the Rockistas confidently claim that Rocky would beat everyone since despite no evidence at all proving such a thing.

I won’t reply again as it’s like debating religion when Marciano is discussed. I wonder if the fact that Rocky was the last white American heavyweight champion of any standing that makes his fans ignore logic and become fantasists when discussing Rocky.

A fighter who I believe would be hell for anyone his own size or slightly larger but who has no proven form whatsoever against top shelf big heavyweights.

    Cheers All.

I can’t help myself. One more post ....

Can you name all the “ super heavyweight “ sized fighters Michael Moorer, Chris Byrd and Michael Spinks defeated ? I remember Spinks squeaking past a fat, elderly Larry Holme twice, beating a drug addicted and semi retired Cooney and then being crushed by Tyson. Byrd managed to be road kill against Ibeabuchi and Wlad K while Moorer was crushed by Tua, was kayoed by old man George and was nobodies idea of a great heavyweight.

Hardly fighters that make a case for smaller guys having great success at heavyweight.

    Cheers All.

Objectively false, I've done research and averaged the Heavyweights of each era and found that from Jack Johnson to Muhammad Ali, the average heavyweight stayed around 6'1" 195lbs until Mike Tyson's era with the invention of the cruiserweight division

I’ve done research too. The ranked heavyweights of the early and mid-70s are bigger men than the ranked heavies of Rocky’s era. They’re taller and heavier. It’s pretty obvious.

It is an absurd match up .. Rocky gives up half a foot in height, fourteen inches in reach, forty eight pounds, speed and punching power. Let's match up Arturo Gatti of Boxing After Dark career highlight best against the Michael Spinks that beat Johnson, Lopez and Qwai on the undercard.

What a fight this would be, war from start to finish. Who wins ?? IDK but Bowe at his absolute peak (91-93) could potentially beat any ATG HW except Ali. Huge size advantage for RB but Marciano hit like a sledgehammer and Bowe was very easy to hit, could go either way.

I do not think there would be a KO. Marciano is evry durable fighter and cagey on the inside
