When I was four I used play "Toughman Contest" on my Sega Mega Drive. I didn't know Butterbean was a real person and not just a video game character for another ten years.

Entertaining fat *******, that's about it.

well that doesn't say much for the 30'era becase he would be ranked in a top spot with the topic of the thread and era he would be placed in .Imagine Bean fighting those slow footed 170/200 pounders that just stood there with 5 ounce gloves on?:-(

He would have got a title shot with Louis at some point, and not remotely get a shot in anyother era post 70's which would tell you how far boxing has advanced.

I'm more in the camp that says he would have collapsed, completely gassed, after the fifth or sixth round - or worse.

Championship fights were not like Toughman contests with their three one minute rounds.

Fighting much smaller guys who don't move around, its highly unlikely any of his fights are going past 2 rounds anyway..the round distance is basically non void, since really Baer ,Shmelling/Louis and maybe Walcott would be the only ones to withstand those first few rounds. It is non void in if can Bean be a top contender in the 30's/ 40's...of course he would be as really fans aren't being truthful here, simply put those 5 ounce gloves on him and imagine what he would do to most fighters of those eras who fought like toughman level fighters anyway.

I don't know wilder is 6'7 and a mover,i don't think it suits Beans style,Wilder more than likely connects first, since beans all that hard not to find.

I just checked the dates. Actually, I was ten when I played that game. Guess I must be younger in real life than in my head.

I like the Bean, very entertaining, but there's a good reason in nearly 100 fights (in all disciplines) only three or four were even scheduled to go past four rounds.

Gets KOd by everyone, Louis, Baer, Schmelling, Braddock, Sharkey, Levinsky all win by KO in 4 rounds or less depending on the fighter. Freaking Primo would rock his world... Tony Galento KO's BeanSh*t in round 1-2

Tony Galentro weighed over 100 pounds less than Beanfart. Galento beat actual contenders to earn his title shot, and could fight over long distances, see his 13-round Ko over Lou Nova. Beanfart lost to 2-11 Mitchell Rose and 52 year old Larry Holmes and almost never fought over 4 rounds.
