Would Calzaghe have been "Hattoned" if he had stepped up like Ricky?

He'd be a heavy favorite against all those mentioned. People read too much into his two losses to the two best fighters of our generation. At his best, when he was healthy at 140, Hatton had a great chin, incredible stamina, deceptively very fast feet, great inside game, good power, vicious tenacity and body punching, he was too small to be effective at 147, but at 140 he was a beast

Against Bradley, Hatton has quick enough feet to stay with Bradley, he has the far heavier hands and at least as good inside game, this would be a force the issue fight, with Hatton getting the better and winning a close decision

Khan gets ****ing murked, doesnt last 3 rounds, awful, awful opponent for Khan, just awful

Maidana, again, this would be an inside game, Maidana with the power advantage, Hatton with the better chin, bodywork, speed, stamina and output, Maidana gets broken down and stopped around the 10th after being riddled with body shots all night

Alexander, might actually have the best chance of the lot being a distance fighter with power, still Hatton is fast enough to make him exchange, and would win the exchanges, close decision again

Hatton (like Calzaghe) never steps in the ring with 2 prime, elite ATG's and His career is virtually identical to Calzaghe's.

Hatton & Calzaghe are essentially the EXACT same level of fighter. B+ers.

I personally rate Steve Collins slightly above both.

no its not, Hatton did step into the ring with 2 ATG primes.

Hatton is the opposite of playitsafe Joe.

The #1 "black" fighter in his division was Chad Dawson, who he got ran into retirement by... not a couple of 400 year old fighters who he couldn't even beat legitimately.

i think its wrong to call Joe aggressive. that word implies hurtful intent, and sure Joe could hurt crap fighters like Lacy, but against more decent opps that he couldnt outbox or wouldnt fold after a few flaps, Joe tended to kinda throw lots of flaps round after round that didnt hurt you in a bid to outpoint his opponent.

It truly makes one wonder, if Calzaghe had stepped up against one of the ATG's in PRIME during his time as a fighter, would he have been "Hattoned"?[/quote]

if calzaghe had gone up against jones jr or hopkins in there prime he would have been embarresed he only went for them at the end for the payday, both hopkins and jones jr where way past it but still caused a lot of problems for calzaghe

This thread is still going?? man you lot are embarrasing-Hopknis and Jones admitted ducking him yet you question Calzaghe over this pmsl

His chin waned in his last year-ie punch resistance due to age. early in his career he took Kesslers, Lacys, Eubanks best and carried on.

Some of you are simply delusional to how he would have fared against 'Prime' RJJ and Hopkins. Both would have been close decisions and could go either way. Schooled, Joe...please

Following an undercover investigation by the News of the World newspaper, Calzaghe admitted he had used cocaine since his boxing career had ended. In a statement on his website, he added that he regretted his "occasional use of cocaine in what have sometimes been the long days since my retirement from the ring
