Would Calzaghe have been the best ever if his hands had stayed injury free?

Calm down dude, It's just an opinion. I was a big fan of Toney and always thought he was the greatest defensive fighter and the greatest inside fighter I've witnessed. Prime Roy Jones is the only guy from the last 20-25 years whom I'd pick over an in shape, motivated Toney in a fantasy match up.

He was never ever going to get a big money fight with Roy without moving up to LHW and going to the U.S.

It would have been like Ricky Hatton calling Floyd Maywesther out from Manchester, and wanting him to fly over and to drop back down to LWW.

    It's laughable.

Dariusz M was built up as Roy's nemesis at LHW, due to their similar records and their back and forth arguments in the media. Joe had a realistic chance of fighting him at LHW had he have moved up. And if he'd have put together some Lacy type performances live in the U.S. there could well have been a demand for him and Roy to have fought. Also, he could possibly have moved up the rankings to become Roy's mandatory like Woods did. Roy had 3 belts.

Wouldn't it have been great if Calzaghe had stepped up in the middle of his career and faced the best competition rather than catching a couple of former ATGs in their sunset years?
Than Calzaghe's career wouldn't be so disputed and Bailey wouldn't have to spend so much time and effort defending him.
Calzaghe needed to have much more James Toney in him!

So now you know that Jones did what Joe had tolds him. Your posts are getting funnier by the minute. Can you show me a link where Jones did what Calzaghe told him
Jones mentioned Calzaghe a while back. We both know that. Agreed?
Calzaghe mentioned Jones a while back. We both know that. Agreed?
An offer was allegedly put forward. Agreed?
Calzaghe said he wanted fights with Hopkins and Jones on the Tyson undercard agreed?

In the build up to their 2008 fight, Joe had been telling the media:

"We've been chasing Roy for 6-7 years"

When Roy was interviewed, he said:

"This is going to be a great fight, Joe's wanted to fight me for a long time now"

    It's called pre-fight hype.

    In reality: it was nonsense.

Again, Ricky Hatton is the perfect example to illustrate just how silly it was:

If as a WBU champ, Ricky had claimed that he'd wanted to fight Floyd for huge money, and he wanted Floyd to come to Britain, and to drop back down to LWW, he'd have been ridiculed.

Essentially, that's what Joe did with Roy.

    Open your eyes.

The whole thing was totally unrealistic.

    It wasn't viable.

    Why can't you see it?

Obviously, the best fighter in the world would have wanted huge money to fly out of his country for the first time, and to also drop back down to a weight he hadn't fought at for 6 years. That's a given. Again, we also know that Joe wanted huge money himself to fight the world's best fighter. So tell me where the money was going to come from, when there wasn't a huge demand for the fight, and although Joe was a great fighter, in 2002, he was still relatively unknown in the U.S.

    Why are you so ignorant?

A guy in Joe's position had to make concessions to even have had a chance of making a fight with Roy.

You possess all this knowledge on the fighters and the divisions, but when it comes to Joe, you are BLIND.

The ONLY way Joe could have gotten a fight with Roy in 2001-2002, would have been:

    1. If he'd been his mandatory at LHW, willing to take short money.

    2. If he'd have been a bigger name in the U.S. and there'd have been an actual demand for the fight.

Other than that, there was zero chance.

Seeing as though Joe wouldn't fight at LHW, or in the U.S. it was never going to happen.

All of the: "We chased Roy for 6-7 years..." talk, is one of the most ignorant, deluded things I've ever heard in boxing. It's cringeworthy. It's an insult.

I can't believe that a knowledgeable fan like yourself could buy that sort of BS.

    It's an absolute joke.

I skimmed this a bit but Calzaghe wasnt a WBU champ he had the SMW title that had been held by top tier of the division previously in Collins and Eubank. Also less established WBO MW O Grant got a shot at Jones at LHW

    Well, well, well, Herol !

Leaving aside your semiliterate spelling, it would appear that you're implicitly agreeing with @Odins beard take on your true status, a dole-dossing twat.

And given that your beef seems to stem from jealousy of Calzaghe's ring (and bedroom) skills, I've composed a little poem to explain you to the forum.

    A moron who hated ‘Zaghee
    Was posting on our ESB
    This poor witless twit
    whose posts were all $hit
was the dole-dossing twat we call Gee.

It seems that ol’ herol was right
To hate the the Welsh boxer, all right.
    For herol’s old lady
    Had done something shadey
To sweeten the Welsh Dragon’s night.

    We now understand Herol’s stance
And Gee will go on with his rants
    His woman's the reason,
    because of her treason,
when Joe had a romp in her pants.

Hopeless Herol seeing as though you dedicate your whole life to hating Calzaghe, Klitschko's, Povetkin, etc etc. ( basically anyone who is white). But Calzaghe is your main one.. your level of hate for him is insane/off the charts./ very unhealthy. You've wasted huge parts of your life just hating a great boxer. I'm just wondering if you actually bumped into Joe Calzaghe.... would you even say anything to this man you have hated for so long?
