Would Calzaghe have been the best ever if his hands had stayed injury free?

LOL Jones has been brutally knocked out on 3 different Continents. When was Calzaghe ever close to being sparked like Jones?

thats what happens when u hang around too long, your punch resistance will go, especially when he moved up to heavyweight all that sparring will effect you

Stop it , Calzaghe was never anything close to a power puncher even in his prime .

He had some of the most embarrassing stoppages I ever seen in boxing history .

That video ' Calzaghe the KO specialist ' is completely Pathetic and makes me wonder how the hell did this man even have fans to begin with .

Calzaghe was a stain, his unwillingness to fight the best only taking on Eubank, Hopkins & Jones until they were all old, and in Jones case well past his best. Plus Hopkins won their fight, Joe's refusal to give Reid a rematch, and never being willing to fight Froch despite Carl being one of the best in the division and would have been a huge fight, leaves many like myself to think very little of Calzaghe's place in the sport. The blueprint for how hated fighters like Ward are, and Mayweather were not so long ago. The blueprint being, wait for fighters that could beat you to get old (Calzaghe - Mayweather) or refuse to give rematches (Calzaghe - Ward) after close fights with questionable decisions.

Not at all. He was happy to use his passport years previously when Hopkins decided against fighting him.

Seems so much hurt in this post and so many mistakes

    How was Eubank old lol?

Do you forget that Calzaghe was a similar age to Jones?

Do you forget that Hopkins had a change of mind about facing Calzaghe years previously?

    Reid

Ask yourself this. How could you not score rounds 2, 3, 4,7, 8 (Reid also had a point deduction in that round), 12 to Calzaghe? Remember Reid had a point deducted also.

I thought like 2 judges that Calzaghe was a clear winner and except for McCrory who scored a draw in the pro Reid crowd all of the other studio guest scored wide for Calzaghe including Mcguigan and Eubank. I also think damaged handed (damaged his hand in round 4) Calzaghe won and felt he won rounds 1, 9 (Reid did land the punch of the night in round 9 though) & 11.

    Good away win for Calzaghe
Reid wouldnt fight Calzaghe when he was champ and lost his very next fight after and then wasnt looking as impressive for a while

Froch wasnt the top SMW when Calzaghe was at the end of being a SMW. Kessler was and Calzaghe beat him before going up to face Hopkins in a far bigger fight than the British champ. Bute was rated above Froch at that time and had just become a world champ

Never joes biggest fan tbh. As guys have said he beat most of his top names when they were past their best. Lets be honest older guys would always struggle against calzaghes style. His best win was probably kessler. And for all everyones shouting about kessler he was not a all time great himself. Just a good solid competetive fighter.

Joe imo got out the sport with a perfectly managed career. Obviously a very good fighter but i never seen him as great. His record will get elevated as time goes by because getting out undefeated is an achievement in itself. But always felt he refused the big challenges cause he knew deep down he d be exposed.

Until quite late in his career he wasnt actually followed by that many here in britain. I always found his fights quite boring to watch with his pit pat style. Ricky hatton had the following. Then at the end of calzaghes career everyone started jumping ship to him...but he was fighting in boring fights like hopkins at that stage. For a long period ot was hard to get up for a calzaghe fight. Fighting guys that werent great.

But it actually never came to fruition though for what ever reason untill old father time took hold which is a
    normal response from Joe
Now Merry Christmas and good day to you ever the optimist

Andre Ward is the greatest SMW ever.
