Would Calzaghe have destroyed Nigel Benn just like he did Eubanks if they fought?

Calzaghe didn't "destroy" Eubank, he won on points FFS!

 

Calzaghe would outclass Benn. Styles don't even matter here, no analysis needed.

Benn wasn't a one hit KO man, not to the extent some people must think he was to believe he has a chance of KOing Calzaghe.

 

Calzaghe hasn't faced as big a puncher as Benn.

 

he didnt destroy eubank it was a hard fight if your talking early 90's benn it would be close if it is the benn yhet fought collins calzaghe would win

 

Mitchell and Salem were far bigger one hit punchers.

 

Calzaghe had a lot of advantages over Benn, he'd find a way to win

 

One of those advantages would be Calzaghe chin, which has never really been tested by the kind of vicous puncher that Benn was. Yeah, if it went the distance Calzaghe would probablly find a way to win. But there it is no certainty that it would go the distance.

 

firstly calzaghe didnt 'destroy' eubank,to answer the question though if they fought in late 97 yes calzaghe would've won&inside the distance.

 

I see what ur sayin Benn has a chance he was a hell of a puncher but quiet a few people managed to go the distance with him & none of them were as good as Calzaghe IMO

 

I really liked Eubank and Calzaghe. Eubank was my favourite boxer before Calzaghe came on the scene. Maybe Eubank wasn't in his prime, but neither was Calzaghe. It was Calzaghes first 12 round fight, so he was vastly inexperienced compared to Eubank who had fought at world level for years running up to the fight. Neither guy was at their prime, but Eubank was closer to his prime at that time to what Calzaghe was. Calzaghe hit his prime let at around 34, 9-10 years later. So yes, I beleive he would have beaten a prime Eubank, which also suggests he has a very good chance of beating a prime Benn IMO.

 

If Calzaghe gets hurt like he did in the Mitchell fight he'd get KTFO. If he gets hurt like he did against the middle aged Jones he'd get KTFO. If he fought the Gman he'd get KTFO. Benn was an excellent world class finisher with the heart of a Lion.

Nope he was giving his honest opinion ,whilst admitting that he probably would have lost but Joe would have known he'd been in a scrap.He also went on to acclaim Calzaghe's achievements in boxing his whole career as an undefeated champion.It's a fight I would have liked to have seen Benn's a british boxing great :tong
