Would Calzaghe have done a better job on Eastman?

Yeah sure man, but Woodhall wasn't bad, solid B. Is Eastman any better?

Woodhall beat Catley, Branco & Malinga. Couple of decent fighters. Was competitive with Beyer, real close match, scored a few rounds off of Calzaghe.

Eastman on the other hand has a KO win over Cherifi, couple of good domestic fighters, a win over an inexperienced Sam Soliman and then the controversial Joppy fight.

Same **** basically. Common opponent in Wormald, Eastman with an early KO, Woodhall with a late stoppage, different levels of power.

I think actually Woodhall is a little bit better, H2H and otherwise, just my opinion. They are the same level of fighter, Woodhall's boxing style makes him less vulnerable to other styles than Eastman's.

Being a big fan of Eastman I'd like to believe he was underrated. But he was just too pedestrian to be a top fighter.

Your comment about Joppy sums him up, a lot of times when he seemed to be getting on top in fights he would take his foot of the gas.

If we are going by resume's....then I think it further leads to Eastman. If we took the names out of it...and just put this.

Fighter A's resume = Branco, Malinga and Cately

Fighter B's resume = Soliman, Cherifi and Ashira

Which one would you say was better?

I think strengths wise as well Eastman holds the advantage. Woodhall was a pretty good fighter, never more....Eastman was a good fighter and barely ever more.

But did you ever seriously believe you would be wasting time on here arguing who was the better fighter Woodhall or Eastman???

Well, I think Branco and Catley are clearly better than Cherifi. Cherifi's a decent B- guy at his best you know, stopping him is a solid victory for this level of fighter we're talking about.

We argue this because Hopkins always gets a 'resume point' for beating Eastman, but Calzaghe's brutal win over Woodhall, the same level of fighter, doesn't mean ****.

Same type of win to me, personally. Can we at least agree that Woodhall and Eastman are basically in the same exact league, the wins count about the same...

The type of win worth noting because they were dominative over decent top 10 competitor's...

    Cool?:good

You know Im not in the same league as the rest of the people who knock Calzaghe's resume. I think its a DAMN GOOD RESUME...but I still think Eastman is a cut above Woodhall tho.

Byron Mitchell is definitively a cut above Eastman.:yep

It is a good resume, is it not one of the top 10 best in the sport, coupled with his talent and skill making the P4P ranking he sports legit? Some guys really don't think so, even now.

Damn right Mitchell is. Mitchell was a damn good, tough fighter who I give Calzaghe loads of credit for beating.

As for his p4p status...I think its inarguable at this point (that is a word right???? LOL). He has a damn good resume and is WONDERFULLY talented.

Didn't just beat him, save for that KD, he totally annihilated him, it was beautiful and so fun to watch.

That should have put him in the top 20 P4P right there IMO, which would have helped him getting a name out there for the bigger names to want to fight him, as he could then bring money and also credit to them if they were to win, because people should have recognised that he was an outstanding fighter...

    THEY DIDNT THOUGH.

Mitchell's a former lineal champ, competitive with the other top class, beating some of them, including KOing Frank Liles and Calzaghe blitzes him...

Is it about time to open your eyes up people? That's what I was thinking back then, I don't know about you Sues.

I agree. Ive been a fan of Joe's since the Eubank fight...you know that as well as anyone. Been singing his praises since then.

Its funny, now that I am picking Hopkins tho, you have no idea how many of the newer posters (the insane Calzaghe fanatical ones) call me a Calzaghe hater...when the long time posters on here know he has been one of my favs for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNG ****ING TIME! Cracks me up.

I have never suggested that, I only suggested that you are too fanatical about Hopkins, but it's all good because I know for a fact that I can be a psycho fan about my favourite guys.

I even said in my 'Calzaghe hater/Hoppy fans ready to eat crow list' thread for nobody to mention you because you aren't apart of that joke movement headed up by Scumsfeld and Too Pretty.
